I'm going to start using this from now for my writing; after looking at the sheer number of files I already have in directories, it'll be worth going over to for the master file alone.

Best part?

It can even save in word format.

I have used Open Office and it is okay. My beef is that it uses one application for all of the component apps. Word, Excel, and stuff are all seperate applications (which I like) but Open Office seems to be just one huge application.

It takes me back to the MSWorks days...blech.

My other problem was it seems to be fairly bloated for what it does. If there was some way to customize the launch so it only gave you what you wanted on loading then that would be grand. Who knows.

Best thing - It is free. Note: There is a commercial version produced by SUN called StarOffice

I actually like the full intigration into a single program. Don't know why, but I used to like MS Works, and wasn't that glad when I had to go to begin using MS Word, Excel, etc. (even though, for my functions, they worked exactly the same). Don't know how to explain it, but the idea of intigrating them all into a single program, with multiple modules, just seems good for me.

Incidentally, my favourite feature is the Master Document function. I've already created one for Triad, just to test it out, and it's helping a great deal... I can access all of my posts at once, for reading or editing, including the ones being currently worked on. Which is very usefull for the amount of prewritting and planning I do, because I can look at the posts present, and go, "Yeah, I could use another one in there, couldn't I?"

WORD has a Master Document feature too, it just sucks.
