Go see this movie. Fabulous film with lots of that fantastic Joss Whedon dialog and his tight TV-style pacing. It does suffer from "first director" syndrome in that it is uneven. It was almost as if at certain points joss relized he wasn't directing for TV and reached too far. But it fits together well.
If you have not seen the TV show there is a lot here to enjoy although if you have then there is a lot more. I hope that people who didn't see the TV show will appreciate the complexity of the characters and their relationship to each other seeing as they only have a little bit of time to get to know them.
The SPFX are fantsatic (when aren't they today?) and the music is really good...although they saved the "You can't take the sky from me" song until the very end of the credits - I'd have like to hear it at the beginning of the movie.
Overall I'd (honestly) have to give this a 3.5 out of 5. It hits on most of the barrels but unless you are a fan a lot of it will leave you asking questions of the fan next to you. Joss has shown he can do the "big screen hollywood thing' and that, more than anything, is why we should see this film. Support him in the box office so he will get tapped for more top-line movies like Wonder Woman and X-Men.

Serenity
Got a chance to go see Serenity last night and HOLY $#!+ THAT WAS GREAT!
That's all I'm going to say, because I can't say much more without spoiling something for someone... but I will say this: Reavers are creepy.
Actually, I'll also say this, but I'll hide it. Don't read this if you haven't seen the movie, `cause it's a major spoiler!
[hide]WASH?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Wash was the best, why kill him off, Joss ol' buddy? Kill Zoe, or have Jayne go out in a blaze o' glory, but let Wash live to play with his dinosaurs a little longer  [/hide]
Serenity
I came across this review of Serenity by Orson Scott Card (and if any of you haven't heard of him, hang your heads in shame), and just have to share it. It's long, but well worth the read.
