Weird that I havent read these earlier, but I just started them recently. I just finished the first 2 (Interview with the vampire, and The Vampire Lestat). I am really really enjoying them.

Has anyone else read them? Id like to hear your opinions :)

ps: if anyone HAS read them, is it me, or when you become a vampire do you also become quasi gay

I've read them all through "Body Thief"...but I think she wrote at least one or two more after that.

Interview was, I think, the best written one. Lestat was the better story however.

There are a few in between that aren't so good (Queen) but the Body Thief was pretty good.

Anne Rice is one of those authors you either like or can't stand. A few folks love her stuff, but they are enamored with the world she's created.

And yes, shaun, vampirism in Anne Rice's world makes you a gay superhero.

I think it's more that in Anne Rice's world once you become a vampire gender is more or less irrelevant. Even sex is pretty irrelevant. It's all about sensuality rather than sexuality. The sensation of experience, of drinking the blood and all that.

I read the series years and years ago. I enjoyed Interview, loved The Vampire Lestat, coped okay with Queen of the Damned, and then after a short break Body Thief came out and that was pretty good. I also read a few of her Mayfair Witches books, which were okaaaay but I didn't bother after the first couple.

I'm trying to read The Witching Hour at the moment, though I'm finding it pretty hard going. I was hoping that it would have picked up some speed by now but it's still ambling around all this history stuff... I still holding out that it'll get better - but I'm not holding my breath.

As for the Vampire Chronicles, I haven't read them but it's interesting to hear what other people think of them. :D
