i don't see why non-players require to see the whole board... what they currently are allowed to access is more than enough for them to make contact and keep abreast as to what's going on in the game.
really don't feel it's necessary for them to be a part of the stuff that goes on "behind the scenes", so to speak...

Elitist. I say that with the hopes that, as you suggested, there would be certain areas for non-players to post. This will keep them involved. I like how you kept this a welcome place even for non-players. I also think there should be a behind-the-curtains area that only the "actors" may see.
Right now we have an "elitist" model for membership. Only a few "elite" players are allowed to participate on the board. We have public areas, but the baord is mostly for the players and hidden from the public.
Another possibility is a "Gentrified" model where NON-PLAYER membership to the board is automatic, but the game board is reserved for "Players"...the behind the scenes and player areas (except the game itself which is exclusive to players) are open to any board member. The general non-registered public still has limited access.
