I've never printed out a single post - but then, I've read them all as they come, I guess. But then, I've reread all of Season One right through at least once, and selected bits multiple times... But reading it on-screen doesn't really bother me.

I was wondering, there seems to be a lot of posts in season 1 to make a book out of it. Just wanted to know if anyone can set up a printer friendly page where people (new players such as me) who can print off the season 1/ 2 posts so that people can read it in their spare time or as bed time reading. My eyes start to water when i read on the computer for more then an hour.....

I have the same problem. Plus I work at a computer all day long, so coming home and reading the screen is hard on me and my eyes.

There is no printer friendly page that I know of. But since I print to read posts, I set my printer properties on standard monochrome. I do this because printing that is a color, like red, comes out better. I have no trouble printing that.

Another option is to cut and paste to a word processing program and then printing.

Let me know if this helps out.

Actaully i tried the pasting to word, but thats pretty hectic because i have to read all the season 1 and season 2 post so i have to separartly copy and paste every single post made, as copying the whole page and pasting it doesn't work.

But anywayz, i am trying to put together the entire season one and what there is of sason two. I was wondering that after i have finished it whether Dave can put it online or something for other people to print off, like Zayn, whose as new as me. This will be easy for new members and also for old members who want to revise the seasons or something.

I wonder if that is possible?

I was printing out season one when I first came here. Then I realized how expensive ink is! Never replaced the stuff before. No offense, but I have to do most of my reading online.

Being the crazy person i am - and having too much time on my hands, I actually converted the entire season one/midseason/ (and season two posts so far) into word documents - this is my much exploited 'back-up' or hard copy of the game, just because I love it so much. Never mind ink - do you know how much of your harddrive that takes up???

I had to copy everything to compact disk to free up some space!

Any way, enough rambling, it MIGHT be possible for me to zip the files i have and e-mail them to anyone who wants a printer-friendly copy of the game so far.

But i warn you, I edit my pages to size 10 font and they still take up around 30 pages in Word for every page on the game board.... :?

Any way, let me know and i'll see what i can do :D

Email it to me ( mrdave21764@comcast.net or admin@latenightgames.com) and I'll make it available through the "Resources" page on the site.

That will save you emailling a multi-meg file each time to anyone who asks. Even better I'll convert it to PDF format so its smaller and unable to be modified.

Bring it on, and lets get it available to folks

The one thing to recomend is that, depending on how large the file is, several PDF files may be better. Mainly for things like download times, since it is not the case that everyone has a DSL or similar fast connection.

I had an idea, and let me know how it works out for you...

I added a "style" that may be more printer friendly for those of you making the great International novel out of LABN. It is called aalixWhite.

To change the theme, click the "Profile" link at the top of the page. Scroll down to the "Preferences" section and use the drop-down menu next to "Board Style" to choose aalixWhite.

In the interest of printer friendliness, I removed all the reply and edit buttons. So its not real useful for everyday use, but for printing out pages it might be just the ticket. Look at the very top of the pages and use the "Profile" link up there to change it back to whatever style you like when you are done.

Let me know how this system works...

I just did your aalixWhite thingie. This is horrendous. I feel like a ghost just looking at it. I'm going back to the "old way."

But it was interesting to see.

Jeppi, its not supposed to be used every day. Switch to it before you print then switch back. Heck I'd never want anyone to see LABN that way all the time.

Actually, PDF style doesn't sound bad, but what about several word documents or something that can be modified, I know its too big but i like to shrink the words to really really small size and print it out in this coloumn like format.....

ok I just saw the aalixWhite and i have to agree with Sid, actually i felt a ghost looking at me, but it looks printer friendly so good work Dave, thanx!

I have a separate word file for every 'page' on the Game Board - each word file can be anything from 25 - 40 pages long. I've kept the format as follows -

The post goes here, I kept things pretty simple, post details are in bold, internal thoughts in ** are all in red text except for Victor's demon voice which is in italics. I'll send what I have to Dave when I get back to my own PC and see if he wants to do anything with it, but if everyone's happy with the printer friendly version that's okay too.

The only problem I see with the files Lou has saved (and I imagine I'm the only person this really bothers at all) is that a lot of the posts have been saved before my Grammar Nazi editing was done.

And in some few cases, the original authors have made some subsequent changes to their posts.

What this means is that to a minor extent the version printed from Louisa's files will be different from the version printed directly from the board.

I know, I know, I'm the only person here anal retentive enough to actually give a damn about that...

Um...

*hand raises* Teacher, Teacher, call on me, I'm ever so smart!

Um, I'm that anal. I care about that. Every change counts.

Actually Heather I think half of what was reposted in season one during the first big purge was my back up copy that I had to e-mail to Nick so he could repost it. I normally format a page as it is finished, e.g. I will copy down page 12 once we have moved to page 13. So unless you are really behind in your edit it should have most of the corrections.

Besides, it has been known for English students to know a thing or two about grammar... :P

If any one does have season 1 or 2, then can they send it to me please, preferably in words...i like to really shrink the text...easy to read and easy on paper and ink....

OOPs, I knew there was something I was supposed to do, I forgot, sorry, in my defence I've been supremely busy of late, that and I wanted to find a zip program so that I could e-mail all the stuff to Dave alot quicker, I'll try and get on to that straight away...

Okay well I finished creating a 'printer friendly' archive file of season one and midseason one.

I took out all the sparkle and pizzaz that might be taking up extra room - so I shrunk and minimised my headers and page breaks. The file is in point 7 Tahoma, so it is already pretty small.

For anyone who's brave enough to print this baby word of warning - season one spans 329 pages in word, midseason - 97 (tiny in comparison!) :D

BTW I rearranged midseason into chronological order, which makes it much easier to read :)

I'll send the files to Dave as soon as I can and get this up on the site for people to download.

I'll create a similar file for season two - though it won't be available until we hit midseason two in january next year...
