I had the strangest thing happen to me tonight. My usual Buffy night was no more. UPN was showing the most gawdawful "reality" show about a model competion that was full of the fakest people I have ever seen in the 5 minutes I could stomach it.

At first I thought, well I'll watch some Buffy episodes on DVD...and I didn't want to. I wanted my Buffy. It was like a drug. I had to have it. And it wasn't there to have.

I have quit smoking. I did it exactly 9 weeks ago this past Friday. I know this becasue I have wearing "the patch" and at nearly $40 a box I can damn well remember how many I have had.

Smoking is an addiction. And now that I don't do that any more ...I still miss it. Buffy is like smoking ...no its not bad for you and cause cancer. Bear with me for a while.

Buffy is an addiction and we...all of us...millions of loyal and devoted fans have been cut off. Oh we have Angel (the Patch) but its not the same and somehow we know that unless it changes dramatically its just a temprary substitute for that addiction.

And it sucks. Something else equally brilliant and stirring may come along as a successor to Buffy. Sooner, I hope, than later. but we who experienced it in its glory and not so much in re-runs and DVDs and the inevitable movies know that there was something more than a little special about the first time around.

Sorry to rant on but I had to say something as one recovering addict to a group af my friends who have now, suddenly, become fellow addicts and my support group. 12-steps to recovery from Buffy Addiction anyone?

Hello, my name is Kristen and I, too, am an addict. I find myself at a loss on Tuesday nights and it's only been one week. What am I going to do from now on. There's nothing good on, with the exception of Angel. They canceled Farscape earlier this year too. *Sigh* What to do? What to do? Maybe I'll take up macrame.

I know it does not come remotely close to taking Buffy's place, but take a small bit of comfort in the fact that Smallville plays on Tuesdays. Hey its something....

"Hello..." *cough* "my name is Greg and I'm a recovering Buffy addict."

*shifts his weight from one foot to the other*

"I have been watching Buffy since it began and never missed a episode"

"but I found a way to silence my addiction and ease the cravings"

"I did'nt use the Angel patch, actually I gave that up too"

"I used love, a drug which is WAY worse now I can't eat I can't sleep and can't do anything but feel restless without my love"

"she's not here now and all I can do is think about her"

"TAMMY!"

"sorry I just had to say her name"

"anyway I gave up BuffyandAngel half way through the last season which was hard, Yes, it was hard going cold turkey"

"I DO still feel the pangs, I want it, I feel I need it, but I know, I can live without it"

"sometimes I feel guilty for not knowing what happened to sunnydale and the scooby's, I feel bad running out on Angel, But when I do I just remember Tammy and that gets me through"

*coughs looks around at the shocked audience then runs ashamed out of the room only stopping to jump over the two women still rolling around on the floor*

Well, to help everyone get their Buffy fix, a certain thread reminded me of a fun crossover I once read - between Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the one hand, Pinky and the Brain on the other. Very fun, also a bit bizzare, considering the villain is a vamped Snowball (Snowball, for those who don't know, is the name of the hamster who is Brain's rival).

Pinky the Vampire Slayer

Ghosts of Albion

If you want something else to stave off the Buffy Blues then check out this new interactive webcast animated series called Ghosts of Albion. It's written and directed by Buffy's very own talented Amber Benson and Christopher Golden who I'm told co-wrote some of the Buffy comics. Ghosts of Albion features a stellar cast, including Jasmine Hyde and Rory Kinnear, plus cult legends like Anthony Daniels, Leslie Phillips, Emma Samms and animated by Cosgrove Hall - the people who brought you classics like Dangermouse.

Ghosts of Albion is set in London in the year 1838. On the death of their grandfather, Ludlow Swift, William and Tamara learn of their inherited destiny as the Protectors of Albion. As Demons swarm across the land, William and Tamara must learn all they can about the forces of magic if they are to find the wound in the Heart of London and save England from the destruction of Balberith's minions.

Its been out a while now and all seven acts are available to watch straight away. I've seen them all and I can tell you that it's surprisingly good, really funny and scary, well for a cartoon anyway. It was also quite quick to download even on my crappy internet connection! :D

I am reading Pinky and the Slayer right now (and it really is quite funny and very well written) and saw this...and had to share for the lazy bums who won't follow the link even after the glowing review {inhale}.

They're Speilberg and the Joss, Speilberg and the Joss... One does screen plays, the other's just the boss.

You know that they own all this stuff, I make no money-so sue me and you luck is tough.

They're Speilberg, Speilberg and the Joss, Joss, Joss, Joss, Joss...Narf!

More Pinky/Buffy fun (For those too lazy to browse Kirbyclause's other stories) in the sequel, Pinky the Vampire Slayer and the Revenge of Catherine the Great.

Worth reading for Spike and Brain trying to decide if Dru or Pinky is more crazy... while the latter two play together.

Woah! You guys watch Buffy on a Tuesday? Weird. Guess it's cos your over the pond or whatever. It's Thursdays in the UK.

I am too a Buffy addict. A problem that gets worse every summer after the series finishes. During that time I am known to wonder around the dark streets of my home town with a peice of wood in my hand threating the drunks with sarcastic comments. Fortunately, this problem ends when the new series starts.

But! Oh no! Buffy FINISHES in about two weeks! ARRRGGHH! NO MORE BUFFY? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Luckily, it's Sky One to the rescue. Their showing the enitre series at 6:00 EVERY DAY. And, thankfully, Angel's still running. Phew. That was close.

I've started wathcing Ghosts of Albion and thought it was quite good. Haven't got around to finishing it yet...

Ghosts of Albion Returneth

Meredith Bell's picture

For those of you who watched and enjoyed it the first time, GHOSTS OF ALBION is back for a second adventure starting with Chapter 1 "Astray" this week.

The last Chapter "Legacy" showed our heroes Tamara and William Swift as they learned the power of the legacy that had been left to them on their Grandfather's deathbed. That of the Protectors of Albion. Tamara and William along with several ghosts of Albion had to battle the forces of Barbareth in order to close the Wound in the Heart of London.

The new story, Astray, is in E-book or Audio form. A new chapter being revealled every Thursday.
