BACKGROUND:
Matthew was born on 9th September, 1102 CE in a village in Southern England. There he grew up happily, and developed a deep bond with his sister Miriam. The two were inseparable, relied heavily on each other’s council and loved one another and their parents dearly. But Matthew craved more than life in the village. He wanted adventure, to go to war in distant lands and win renown for himself and his own, and collect shining, glittering gifts for Miriam.

However, adventure came when he least expected it. At sixteen, whist out in the forests on a manhood ritual, the village was attacked by vampires. Matthew was forced to flee. Eventually he arrived in France two years later and was taken in by a caring monk. The monk was one of the original nine that a year later formed the Knights Templar. Soon Matthew became one himself, and served honourably and faithfully. His service took him from Northern France to Germany and Spain, Italy, the Middle East, and back to England again, fighting heretics, blasphemers, vampires and even demons.

But in 1128, at the age of twenty-six, he stumbled upon a dark cult of vampires in Germany and was imprisoned. For months Matthew was tortured, his mind and spirit steadily broken down. Following the instructions of their mysterious deity, the cult then possessed the poor Knight with a demon, Dray'chen.

For the next two hundred years Dray'chen went on a rampage across Europe. His reign of terror came to an end in 1307 when a group of Frenchmen, under order of their King, took him as evidence of the Knights Templar’s heresy. Shortly before the trial, a young witch in the adjoining cell, also facing charges of heresy, was able to bind the demon within Matthew’s soul. Discovering the incredible strength he now possessed, and pushing aside the legacy of guilt that was now his to bare for at least a short while, Matthew was able to break himself and the witch out of prison. Once free, the witch vanished shortly thereafter, reappearing some time later to guide Matthew onto a higher purpose; fighting evil once again.

The demon lent Matthew not only its power, but a touch of its immortality. Though Matthew does not age, he can be killed. He has been employed by both the Spanish and French Inquisition and has briefly worked for the Watchers' Council. However, in 2005 Matthew went missing, for reasons unknown. He was last known to have been in Russia. Many feared him dead.

In fact, Matthew had discovered something that, just by knowing about it, threatened his existence. For reasons known only to him, he believed the best way to hide was to wipe his memory clean and create a new life.

Thus Felix was born; a twenty-something year old whose fictitious parents were an American news reporter and British Royal Navy sailor. Born also on 9th September, his 'parents' were killed by vampires when he was supposedly sixteen. Since then he has called himself 'Chance’ and travelled all round the world searching for his parent’s killers. He believed them to be in Los Angeles

Midseason Two ~
Upon arriving in LA, Chance set about searching for the vampire he wanted. He met local snitch Bob Wedge, and pumped him for information (and money) but discovered to his horror that the vampire he had been seeking, Oblique, had been dusted. Chance also experienced frequent visions and dreams of a life that wasn’t his and yet at the same time was, but he forgot them shortly after they occurred.

Chance also had a run in with an interesting man calling himself The Vagabond, who warned him away from LA. Stubbornly, Chance refused to heed his warnings and remained…

Season Three ~
Season Three kicked off to a slow start for Chance. With nothing better to do, he kicked around LA for a few months. He befriended James, not knowing he was a vampire, Darlome, Vincent, Cole and Alessa.

But events were coming to a head. The visions and dreams continued to increase, and he continued to forget them. Chance began to regard his frequent blackouts with suspicion. He discovered there was a growing darkness in LA, and later found a name for this something; Elders. Nicholas,
one of the Elder vampires, set-up a trap for Chance that he narrowly avoided, thanks to the combined efforts of Vincent, Cole and Alessa. Linking their description to his memories, Chance believed at least one of them to be his parent’s killers. However, his quest for vengeance was soon forgotten, as his relationship with Alessa grew into a deep love. They agreed to help defeat the Elders in LA, and travelled to Paraguay to secure a flower that would be used in a spell to destroy the vampire Dathan. During the trip, the two finally acknowledged their love for one another.

Upon returning to LA, everything went to Hell. Captured by Evexus Drett, Chance was taken to the Elder Dathan. After a lengthy torture process (worryingly similar to the one inflicted upon Matthew in 1128 CE), Dray’chen was released to control his body. The demon made a pact with the Elders, and launched a rampage of death that brought LA to its knees. His body-count, that rapidly spiralled from dozens into hundreds including Ernie’s wife (putting Ernie in the hospital in the process) and almost Cole and Alessa, was halted only by Cole, Alessa, and the mysterious Pandora, who successfully rebound the demon. But not before Dray’chen killed the Vagabond, who unwilling released information that pleased the demon…

Coming to grips with his existence, however temporarily, Chance distanced himself from Alessa but took part in the Hyperion Battle, where he found out that he can use Dray’chen’s strength and power to augment his own. He enters the midseason confused, bewildered, alone, and lost…

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Now known to him, Felix is the demon-Knight Templar Matthew. Creating the Felix persona to hide from some threat, whatever that might be, Matthew believed he was safe. Felix benefited from the demons strength, but he was not as strong as Matthew was, for the power that comes to him from the demon is second-hand. Like the Russian doll system. Within Felix is Matthew, within Matthew is the demon. An undeveloped sixth sense gave Felix an advantage in vampire-hunting, but it sometimes deserted him when he needed it the most, and he never truly relied upon it.

After Dray'chen was rebound, Chance rediscovered how he could use the demon. His strength, speed and toughness has increased. To use Dray'chen fully, though, requires concentration that is not always available in the midst of battle (or a deep desperation). Also, his sixth sense has become fully aware now.

Chance is extremely adept at hunting vampires, and one of his most notable skills is riding a bike single-handedly whilst firing his crossbow to a considerable degree of accuracy.

ITEMS:
Chance rides a 2002 Harley FLSTS Heritage Springer motorcycle. He also owns a collection of stakes, knives, and a small, modern crossbow with bolts.
