One of the things that brought us here was a love of Buffy and Angel. Now that Buffy is over in the US (and going soon elsewhere) what are you watching as a replacement?

Heather and I are watching "Dead Like Me" on Showtime. This is a great show that deals with our feelings about death, dying, and loss...and has a really nifty cosmology. It stars Mandy Patinkin and Ellen Muth (who plays Athela on Fantastic Legends). There is a quick summary on the site http://deadlikeme.com

I am thinking about digitizing eps of this for d/l to this group (once I figure out the hard and software needed to do that). In the meantime I am taping eps for personal use.

grrrr, im still trying to get over the cancellation of Fastlane, grrrrr...i gotta go with my man Angel and smallville, although ive been hooked onto General Hospital once again (for the billionth time, this is harder to kick than heroin, seriously)...angel is seriously going to kick ass this season
btw, before any1 starts, Fastlane was not created with the intention of being an emmy-type show a la Homicide (another freaking fave TV show which got cancelled way before i was ready to give up on it) it is, was, pure fun

I'm still holding out for the third season of The Shield. Until then, I have the Daily Show and Tough Crowd to keep me occupied.

And the Sector General books. :)

At the moment I've been reduced to Buffy reruns. EVERYTHING I watch has been cancelled over the last few years, and my hours of TV watching have steadily decreased. First it was Star Trek Deep Space Nine, then Voyager, then X-Files, Friends and then Buffy. Grr. Simpsons are getting boring now, repeated WAY too many times, and Smallville and Futurama are on at stupid times (monday and saturday nights, when I'm usually busy).

So, I have to wait until then new series of Angel, Scrubs and Stargate start again. Until then, Buffy season 5 starts monday...

Hopefully they'll bring out SOMETHING else I'll watch, but I'm not getting my hopes up...

Nothing, but nothing will replace Buffy. But...

I have virtually no time but when I can I catch Dead Like Me. You're right, Dave; the writing is wonderful. I'm having a hard time with the constant voiceovers from George, though. I'm hoping that'll fall by the wayside the less the parameters need to be explained.

I tape Nip/Tuck. Nip/Tuck has the makings of a very good show if it weren't so self-conscious about having the makings of a very good show. The Charmed guy is like food to look at and is appropriately bad boy smarmy. I'm hoping it'll last another season if only to watch the Charmed guy twist his mouth around and spank more enhanced model ass -- but that's just me.

I tape Queer Eye for the Straight Guy because of the impeccable taste and class the QE guys are imparting to the world of straight men. They are why women become Hags: funny and honest and they'll be the drum major of your parade once you're all you can be. Carson's fall on the floor hilarious. Kyan is a babe and FINALLY shared with the world the secret of Manscaping (trimming body hair so that your pecs look more defined and other parts look bigger and I'll just go ahead and say it -- tastier). Thom could turn my backyard into Shangri-La; and you all know my backyard. Jai's grasp of what's romatic to a woman...! He taught a guy who was proposing to his Armenian girlfriend how to say "I Love You" in Armenian. I was in tears. Ted makes creme brulee. 'Nuff said. Love that show.

I'm kinda bummed about Fastlane, too.

And of course, I will be glued to AtS because...well, because.

I have to also cast my vote for Nip/Tuck. This is good. I'm totally hooked. And up until last week I had The Amazing Race 4 to look forward to. Alas it's all over now. (Don't start you anti reality show critics. I don't watch any other, but that show is different. It really is.)

I don't see anything coming this fall to catch my eye other than Angel and Smallville. I want to watch Dead Like Me, but I have no idea when it's on and I haven't gotten to see it yet. I am going to try and catch Carnivale though, cause it just looks cool.

Instead of Buffy? But I'm still waiting for Season 7 to hit the BBC this autumn... oh well, while I wait impatiently for that to happen, and hope that the BBC will not stick a load of sports coverage slap bang in the middle (did I tell anyone how much I HATE the BBC recently?) Obviously I'm watching Angel - was it ever in question?? I just finished watching the last of season two of Spooks - that's MI-5 for you american folks ;) and looking forward to a new series of Alias and Charmed that starts next week. (Yeah I know, Charmed, I'm getting a little desperate here - no I HAVE to watch it in case they bring back Cole ;)). Not to mention the new series of Teachers and Sex and the City.

I'm also hanging out for buying more Red Dwarf DVD's and Spaced, oh yeah, and The Office second season, that would be pretty cool. I think that might just tide me over for now :D

While I'm waiting for Season 5 of Angel, I've been watching Smallville, Charmed and Sex & The City. Not quite the same as Buffy and Angel but better than nothing... Sex & The City, especially, keeps me sane. Can't help but love the way the show makes me laugh every single time I watch it. :)

Replacements

Logan's picture

OMG ^5 April.. I love Sex and the City.. I love Samantha, she is one of the greatest characters.

Replacements

Firefly's picture

I love Sex and the City too. I just never remember it's on. It's one of those Sunday night things here and who ever remembers to watch TV on Sunday nights?

And Lou, no way is Cole coming back as the oh-so-yummy Julian McMahon is now portraying the wickedly delicious Dr. Christian Troy on Nip/Tuck.

Replacements

Parasol's picture

Although Dr. Troy has made one too many trips to the tanning booth (in Miami nonetheless); he's got that George Hamilton nuclear glow that I don't really find attractive. Did he have that on Charmed?

Replacements

Firefly's picture

Not as much, no. And hi, stranger.

Replacements

Parasol's picture

Stranger than what?

Hi, honey. I'm around although not that active; huge (dare I say it?) months long block going on here. I'm hoping that my creativity will return before I get voted off the island.

I'm assuming you got the Buffy CD and what's going on with you?

Replacements

Firefly's picture

I certainly hope you get back into the swing of things, darling. Perhaps one or more of the nasty big boys who just came to town can go sniffing around Parasol sometime soon. They are out to wipe you all out after all.

Replacements

Kieran's picture

CTV (a canadian station) just picked up Nip/Tuck...sounds interesting, u guys make it sound likes it worth watching

Replacements

Parasol's picture

I watched HBO's premiere of "Carnivale" last night. It's very very interesting. Not in a "I have nothing nice to say about it" way, either. It's moody and inventive; good storytelling I think with really funky characters. (I almost lost it laughing when Clea DuVall's character [Marcy from Buffy], a psychic, yelled to her comatose mother "Will you PLEASE shut up!") If you're stateside and have HBO, I recommend you take a gander at this show. I think you'll like it.

If you are remotely interested and as a "lord it over you guys; you should move to LA and keep me company and then maybe I can write" aside, my friend Jeff, the television director, did an episode of "Tru Calling" and got for me a signed Polaroid of Eliza. She wrote my name!! She wrote my name!! He's such a good friend. He debased himself to ask for an autograph for his lonely shut-in friend (me) whose life revolved around Buffy for the past two years. He loves me.

Eliza is so very pretty, it's unnerving.

Replacements

Heather's picture

OMG, Sherl, that's awesome. I have a friend back in Aus who would just KILL for a signed autograph from Eliza. She's been downloading Tru Calling eps the second they're available on the net. hehe Wait'll I tell her I know someone who has one. She'll turn green with envy.

Hm. New show by Marti Noxon
STILL LIFE
status: new series (midseason 2004)
what's it about? (possibly spoilery if you aren't into that. Hilight the text to see it)
(from FOX's press release) STILL LIFE tells the story of an American family, the MORGANS, through the eyes of JAKE MORGAN, the eldest of BEN and CHARLOTTE MORGAN's four children.
Jake was the golden child that every parent dreams of having. Following in his father's footsteps, he decided to become a cop. And, on his first day on the job, Jake was murdered. We rejoin the Morgan family a year after Jake's death. Jake now is our narrator, watching his family from beyond with amusement, longing and neverending curiosity as their true lives are revealed to him. Jake is not a ghost, but in many ways he is still a part of the lives of the people he loves, and he still has unresolved issues. His mother, CHARLOTTE (SUSANNA THOMPSON, "Dragonfly"), has been galvanized by tragedy to resume her dream of running for public office. His father, BEN (DAVID KEITH, "Daredevil," "Behind Enemy Lines"), a detective, must overcome the guilt he feels for his son's death and rediscover the lust for life he once had. Jake's younger brother, MAX (JENSEN ACKLES, "Dark Angel"), is a 21-year-old concert of darkness and light. His love-hate relationship with Jake is revealed in a love triangle with MAGGIE (MORENA BACCARIN), the girl they both love and owner of an art gallery. EMILY (AUDREY MARIE ANDERSON, "Moonlight Mile"), Jake's 19-year-old sister and best friend, is a haunting beauty whose life has been set adrift by the absence of her brother. She is looking for someone to give her that connection again, and the search could take her anywhere. His youngest sister, DAISY (JEANETTE BROX), is a precocious 16-year-old coming of age faster than she is ready. She is a positive, upbeat spirit buoyed by the belief that Jake is "still here." /td>

By turns heart-breaking and life-affirming, joyful, combative and complicated, STILL LIFE is a beautiful celebration of love, life and family. MARK PIZNARSKI ("Once and Again," "My So-Called Life," "Everwood") directs STILL LIFE, from 20th Century Fox Television and Original Television.

who's in it? jensen ackles ("dark angel")
audrey marie anderson ("providence")
susanna thompson ("once & again")
david keith ("high incident")
morena baccarin ("firefly")
jeanette brox ("the practice")

who's making it?
kip koenig ("septuplets")
marty adelstein, neal moritz & dawn parouse
