DESCRIPTION:
Zentara stands just over six feet tall. She is best described as an anthropomorphic vulture with wings that can spread out to nearly five feet on each side, giving her the ability of flight. She usually dresses in ornate white and gold robes, and carries staff, which is simple – but carefully carved to avoid the appearance of being magical.
She is easily the member of the Five who is closest in thought and ambition to Alaric, and favours the subtle approach to conflict. Her position makes her the ‘Magician’ of the Five.

BACKGROUND:
Being born during the Renaissance was a distinct advantage for Zentara, given the important role of Spiritus in the period. It was a time when thoughts about magic often occurred, which would continue for the next three centuries – even capturing such thinkers as Sir Issac Newton, who wrote on Alchemy (note from Adam: no, this is not a joke; Newton was an alchemist as well as a physicist).
She was approached to join the Order of Valour in 1517, when it became clear she had a talent for magic and appeared to agree with much of their thought processes, after working with Niccolo Machiavelli in the Republic of Florence. This work allowed her to quietly collect magical tomes when Niccolo was sent on various missions.
Zentara was selected as the heir to a position on the Five in 1594; it was not until 1625 when the previous holder was found by a slayer. Age slowed his reflexes to the point where the slayer was able to defeat him in front of her, an event she has taken to heart as a reminder that all – even the strongest – can be killed.
In 1642, Zentara began to organise the mystical tomes of the Order in a library in Spain. Seeing the possible disaster, which could result from this in 1776, she divided the library between three places: Toledo, Spain; Ingolstadt, Germany; and New York in America. This last was not established until after the revolution.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Magic ~
Zentara, as already stated, is the ‘Magician’ of the Five. Zentara is easily one of the more powerful magicians in existence, her power roughly on par with some of the stronger witches of Sindell. Countering her would likely take 2-4 strong witches when she is fully rested.
ITEMS:
Staff ~
Zentara’s staff can be used as a melee weapon, but its main purpose is to serve as a focus for her power. Channelling power through the staff effectively doubles her power, with the potential for even greater effects given the proper astrological conditions. It has been specially made to disguise its nature; a powerful witch will be able to feel power emanating from it, but the casual magic user will hardly be able to recognise it. A skilled aura reader can also detect it from the subtle changed in Zentara’s aura when she has and does not have the staff present.
Amulet ~
Fashioned by Zentara herself, her amulet grants her the ability to create a shield of energy around herself. This shield effectively negates her ability to fly due to the way it surrounds her body though she can still move and work lower-level magic IF she has her staff to focus.
Magical Library ~
Dispersed over three cities, Zentara maintains the magical library of the Order. Modern technology has replaced magic as her means of remaining in contact with the libraries, each of which is staffed by several servants. While not specialised, it qualifies as one of the more diverse in existence. Odds are very likely Zentara can either find something in it, or know exactly what information she needs to find outside of the library when she’s through.
