:P with much delight, season 5 began and i dare say that it is shaping up to be a mighty damn good season...

angel is just too wicked cool...so suave, calm and full of ass-whoopin' (ah man, that scene where he kicked the shotgun from the saunders (i think his name was) arm and shot him thru the neck was too cool (in a stylish cinematic kind of way ala Desperado)

anyways, the subtle humor isnt gone from the show...Lorne and Fred are way too funny...

and Wes continues his dark, angel-wannabe ways :P 8)

am i the only one who wishes Harmony would just die???????? grrrr, that woman is annoying "ooh, blondie bear!" ahahahaha, spike is such a wuss...cant wait for angel to kick his ass, spike kicks his ass back, angel slaps him around a bit, they go for a drink in a bar and bitch about who buffy likes better!!!....imagine the possibilities that the show can go with these two vamps...they both lose their soul :P

and yeah, Gunn is gonna be a baddie soon!!!!

btw, Fred = super hot nerd

Im a big fan of Angel, but im going to disagree with Ric.

I didnt think it was that good, and I dare say, I doubt the show will last longer than this season. I think the show is trying to be TOO funny, and it isnt working.

I just hope im wrong

It’s finally official. CC will be doing the 100th episode. I spoke with her earlier tonight and the deal is sealed. CC will need all to the support we can muster because I don’t believe that this shoot will be a picnic. Thanks to all of you for being supportive. Lets hope that JW, KM, JB and the WB don’t screw it up.

Guess Who’s Returning to Angel!

Quote:
Article dated: 18 November 2003

Previously, on “Angel”: 5.1 Charles gets legal. 5.2 Spike gets into a necromancer. 5.3 Angel meets wolfgirl. 5.4 Spike eludes Hell. 5.5 Krevlornswath writes destinies. 5.6 Number Five remembers. 5.7 Wes greets a familiar face. 5.8 Wolfram employees go nuts. 5.9 Harmony Kendall takes center stage. 5.10 Spike lives the life of Angel. 5.11 Willow’s craziest slayer gets loose.

A poster at charisma-carpenter.com wrote Saturday that Charisma Carpenter herself has confirmed that she is signed to appear in 5.12, the series’ 100th episode. Meanwhile, an extra on the “Angel” set posted to buffistas.org on Thursday that Christian Kane, who played Wolfram & Hart lawyer Lindsey McDonald until 2001, will return with the reality-warping 5.10. In other “Angel” news, The Spoiler Slayer reports that by 5.11, Buffy Summers, now hanging in Italy, will remain unaware of Spike’s post-Sunnydale resurrection - and that Spike likes it that way.

Landau Is ’Angel’s’ Queen of Flashbacks

Quote:
From ZAp2it.com

Article dated: 19 November 2003

In "Destiny," the Wednesday, Nov. 19, episode of The WB’s "Angel," the love story of Spike and Drusilla (James Marsters, Juliet Landau) continues... more or less.

Introduced in season two of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as the "Sid and Nancy" of the vampire set, the British bloodsuckers’ saga has been played out in present-day episodes and flashbacks ever since, both on "Buffy" and its spin-off, "Angel," now in its fifth season.

In the current version of the tale, Angelus (David Boreanaz) -- the name the good-guy vampire Angel goes by when he doesn’t have a soul, and is therefore very, very bad -- drove innocent Cockney girl Drusilla mad and then turned her into a vampire. She then turned lovelorn Victorian poet William (Marsters) into a vampire just because he caught her eye on a London street.

This twisted lineage is also a romantic triangle, and that angle gets fleshed out, so to speak, in "Destiny." On top of their competition for Dru, Spike and Angel also shared the affections of the slayer Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar). This has not made for a harmonious situation since Spike has been forced to join Angel and his evil-battling team.

"We’ve had the Spike-Angel-Dru triangle," Landau says, "and we’ve had the Spike-Angel-Buffy triangle."

"Destiny" heads back in time to show what happened the first time the two vampires (both of whom now have souls) fought over a woman.

"It’s always fun to visit London 1880," Landau says. "I have some different wardrobe that’s really gorgeous. I’m always excited to go back and work, and this is a particularly fun episode, because I’m back with the boys."

Is Dru being a bad girl again? "Well, you know," Landau says, "you’ll have to see. It’s not exactly like that. There’s the vampire rules and all that, but Spike touches me in a different way, so it’s kind of nice ... figuratively," she hastily adds.

"That’s the part that’s so fun about the role. There are so many different colors and dimensions. Even though we are the villains ad we are evil, there always has been this very sweet love story between us."

Although she’s appeared in flashbacks and as one of the guises of the incorporeal First Evil on "Buffy," Drusilla’s last appearance in present day was in a February 2001 episode of "Buffy" called "Crush."

After being set on fire and driven out of Los Angeles on "Angel," Dru headed back to Sunnydale in hopes of rekindling old embers with Spike.

"I see he’s too far gone on Buffy," Landau says, "and I leave. I haven’t reappeared anywhere, so I’m obviously somewhere else at the moment, still undead and kicking."

Which means she could return. "They have actually talked about it," Landau says, "but I don’t know of any concrete thing. It is definitely a possibility. It would be fun."

Soulless Zombie's picture

i really enjoyed the first episode of angel, shown in england on tuesday 13th of jan sky 1, but i was dissapointed to only see spike at the end for like 5 seconds! not kind, not kind at all!

i dont usually watch angel, just buffy but shes waaay gone now, so angel is my only hope and link etc!
from the few episodes i have watched what ive found out is this - connor was wierd and a bit evil but mainly confused, cordy got over her evilness and her higher-beingness, wes got over his being evilness, fred wasnt evil more terrified, and gunn has yet to be evil. and they joined wolfram and hart to do good - wierd way to do good if u ask me but okie dokie then! -

anyway i have seen angel fight in the few episodes i have watched but in the first ep of series 5, i thought it was way too matirxy, when he was fighting that guy all in black! like flying off walls and stuff,

i was like mmmmmmm.... yeh whatever - i had a total vicky pollard moment! because yeh, but noo, but yeh but... anyway candice is like a major slut so it totally wasnt my fault - (little britain - love it!)

but ANYWAY - u kno the bit where e was like 1 thing tougher than you, is mercy then he made the guy shoot himself in the head, and was all 'you just saw the last of it' well all the fighting before that was SO WAY unrealistic, they shot him like 5 billion times and he avoided them all whatever! then he was all climbing walls and stuff! i was very upset cos it was the most inappropriate fight scene i had ever scene!

ok ....... now that i have torn apart ur beloved angel - i do apologise! - does anyone... anyone ... at all... ahem ... agreee with me?

about the fight scene cos apart from that i thought the actual episode was really quite wickedy bo selecta!
my apologies for going on about nothing for such a long time, ill shut up now ... do u ever like say ill shut up now and keep talking cos i do it all the time, like now and i think people think im quite wierd for doing it, but u know... actually gonna stop talking.

I must admit I did notice a bit of matrixy stuff, but that's the style now I guess. One move in particular; Angel planted on foot on a wall, spun off, and roundhouse kicked the soldier-dude. That's not so much matrixy-style as straight from the film itself. Really! I've seen it! I've also used the move countless times myself in Enter the Matrix! heh

Old Friends Visit Angel

Quote:
From Scifi.com
Article dated: 14 January 2004

Joss Whedon, co-creator of The WB’s vampire series Angel, told SCI FI Wire to expect familiar faces as the current fifth season winds up, including Andrew (Tom Lenk from Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) and the possible return of Connor (Vincent Kartheiser). Kartheiser’s character-the son of Angel (David Boreanaz) and Darla (Julie Benz)-left the series at the end of last season after Angel made a deal with the nefarious law firm of Wolfram & Hart.

Whether Kartheiser returns depends on scheduling and other issues, Whedon said in an interview at the television critics’ winter press tour in Hollywood. "We do have every intention of seeing him again and seeing the Connor who did grow up happy, who had everything that he never had and what that person would be like and what it would be like for Angel to deal with him knowing what Connor can never know," Whedon told reporters.

Lenk, whose nerdy character survived the apocalyptic finale of Buffy last spring, will definitely show up in a Slayer-themed episode due in February, Whedon said.

And, as previously reported, Carpenter’s Cordelia will return to wrap up her character’s storyline in the series’ 100th episode, "You’re Welcome!" which is schedule for Feb. 4. "That’s very much kind of an opportunity to sum up and sort of go, ’Good lord, we’ve been doing this for a while,’" Whedon said. "And without being sly and postmodern about it and winking at the audience, really using it as a milestone and having her-because she was there at the beginning-come and say, ’Well, where are you now? Where were you when we started, and where are you now and how do you feel about that?’"

One face that definitely won’t appear on Angel this season: Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy, Whedon said. "Sarah last year said that she would be interested in coming on the show," he said. "And then this year, she ... said that it felt too soon. And that’s something that I actually understand. It’s very difficult when you throw something off that’s sort of taken over your life and your public persona for years and years and years, ... it’s very difficult to just sort of say, ’OK, I’m going to throw that back on on somebody else’s show and dive in again.’ And I think that’s probably what happened."

Whedon added, "I don’t know that it’s a never. ... It was more just like, ’Now’s not the time.’ And as writers, we have to go to our own characters and care more about that. And so it isn’t ... bad, I don’t think. ... I would love to see her on the show, and she’s welcome anytime she decides she is ready. But I don’t know if that will happen, and with a cast like that, it’s not my first priority."

Jeff Bell, co-executive producer of the WB’s recently canceled vampire series Angel, told SCI FI Wire that upcoming episodes will focus on Lindsey (Christian Kane) and Connor (Vincent Kartheiser). The episodes, "Underneath" and "Origin," were already in production when the WB made its fateful announcement about Angel’s fate.

"Lindsey showed up and then disappeared quite quickly and we get to a place where we think, ’You know what? We need information,’" Bell said in an interview. "And so we bust Lindsey out of hell. It’s sort of The Great Escape, with our guys going in and trying to find Lindsey so we can find out what he knows about us being at Wolfram & Hart. So we’ve got Lindsey and Eve [Sarah Thompson] front and center in that, and we also bring in a new character. Adam Baldwin is going to do a few episodes for us as a representative of Wolfram & Hart. He’ll be a contrast to Eve. It’s male-female, big-small."

Bell then revealed that "Origin" will feature the return of Angel’s (David Boreanaz) son Connor. "Vincent has agreed to come in and do a new episode for us, and we’re going to see the result of the deal that Angel made at the end of last season," Bell said. "It’ll be fun to have Connor show up as a really happy, healthy and well-adjusted kid, the kid he could never be in season four. And for Angel there will be the pain of knowing this is his son, but that nobody else can know that."

Gunn is back, and it appears that he is discussing his (or Angel Investigations) new outlook on representing their clients. A young woman, who is very pregnant, comes into the room. Amanda, is here about a contract she’s about to enter with a demon clan.

A tribe of demons, the Fell Brethren, had located her earlier, having determined that her child was related to one of their prophecies. They have been taking care of Amanda during her pregnancy, and she’s well aware that they are demons, but is still interested.

Down in the lobby, Illyria enters the building and heads to Wes’s office. She’s not unnoticed, as Lorne is ’undercover’ tracking her movements. He talks into his phone, and follows after her.

The Fell Brethren are also present, waiting for Amanda to come out of her conference with Amanda. Harmony is explaining to them about the delay, but they are not happy. The are concerned that things are not going well. Harmony assures them that Angel will have no problems making sure things will go smoothly. But in the conference room, Gunn is telling Amanda not to do it. She’s confused, as Wolfram and Hart is supposed to help with contracts like this. Gunn and Angel have a hard time explaining, when Angel is interrupted by a phone call from Lorne.

Amanda is not to be deterred, she knows it seems strange that she’s willing to give up her child to the tribe. But, she explains, her child is going to be their next messiah. They will care for him, he’ll be an important person, something she can’t give him. She can’t, because her husband was injured at work. He has incurable brain damage, so they are just getting by at the moment. The the demons can heal him, but she has to do something for them. Angel goes to get the Brethren.

Outside the conference room, Lorne discovers he is not as undercover as he thought. Illyria is not amused, accusing Angel of playing games. As she continues to move through the building, the scene shifts back to the conference room. The leader of the Fell Brethren greets Amanda. All are excited to see her.

They begin to sign the paperwork, and Amanda is about to seal the deal, when Gunn interrupts. There is a word in a clause that he is concerned about. It details a demonic ritual that will be performed when the child reaches the age of 13. Amanda wonders if it’s like a bar mitzvah, and the Fell begin to get uneasy. Gunn explains that it’s a ritual sacrifice, of her child. The Fell are outraged, as Gunn is supposed to be their lawyer, not hers. It appears that a fight is about to break out, when Illyria enters the room. She wants to talk to Angel, and he tries to explain that they are kind of busy at the moment. Illyria doesn’t care, and looks ready to kill the Fell if they object. Angel agrees to talk and they leave the office.
