Having read the latest posts in the game, I'd just like to draw peoples' attention to the accepted abilities and drawbacks of vampires. Specifically, the effect of holy water. From the essay posted on this site:

Quote:
Vampires and their demons are susceptible to a set of restricitons which do not affect most other demons. The first and most obvious of these is that sunlight is lethal to them, causing their host to burst into flames which burn hot enough to consume the vampire demon. Crosses and holy water have a similar effect on vampires, although to a much smaller degree. Vampires are incapable of entering a human home uninvited.

Then we look at one of our vampires coming into contact with holy water...

Adriana Lautari wrote:
James kept the smug smile on his face and he took the holy water from the Russian’s hands and sprayed it in his mouth.

"Happy, Mr. Russian mob enforcer?" James pushed by the Russian and into the club as he began to think to himself, *I really gotta make a name for myself among these fucking gangsters. They are gettin too uppity for their own good.*

Vladimir and his partner moved in front of the trio. They grabbed their hands and stamped them hard enough for their hands to nearly break. Dutskaya looked at them with the traditional Russian frown and said, “Velcome to Club Vosrazhenie. Don’t do anyt’ing stupid.”

I know we sometimes take poetic licence for the sake of the story and plotting, but having a vampire character suddenly immune to holy water is a bit much. If James wanted to get into the club I'm sure he could have found some way to circumvent the holy water test, or be in extreme agony while toughing it out and trying not to let the steam escape his mouth, rather than seemingly be miraculously unaffected by it.

Those wanting to have vampire characters or npcs must remember that vampires are very well defined in terms of abilities and restrictions. If you want to overcome those restrictions to the point where the term 'vampire' can't really apply any more, then think about classifying your character as a demon. If playing a vampire, play a vampire. With all that entails. (Soullessness, holy water, stakes, sunlight, inherently evil, etc.)
