I want to open the floor to some brainstorming to try to enliven our community. This is not brainstorming for your charater or even your NPCs but for everyone else's.

The title of this thread says it all:
If I played {Fill in a character's name} I would {an earnest suggestion}.

Keep it to one Character per post and one idea per post as well...no shopping lists please.

The best ideas will likely be ones that don't involve a lot of rewriting background.

Let's see how it goes, shall we?

OH, this is in an PUBLIC forum so if you know of any upcoming storylines no fair breaking them here and spoiling it for everyone. It also means that people who read LABN as non-players can contribute ideas as well.

If I played Daye I'd ...

Have a Hollywood restaurant critic give Bibliophile a rave review and soon it would be overrun with celebrities seeking the latest hot trend.

If I played Kyle I'd:

have some of his clan come looking for him. I'd like to see what a real Kaoshian is like.

If I played Blackthorn I'd:

Have him chipped by the Inititive. ;) Or better yet, tagged with an RFID chip so that a conservation group that studies indigenous Lycanthrope Tribe can track his movements.

If I played Darian I'd:

Have him meet this demonhunter who turns out to be the son of a woman he slept with twentyfive years ago and just happens to be that age  .

Funny you said that Dave, I've always had something like that in mind so maybe you'll see it sooner or later...

Its too early to think of ideas for other people. I'll through down some thoughts later.

if I played Natasha Brookes:

I'd have her meet another psychic who has similar powers, but an otherwise normal life. She could share a lot with someone like that. Especially if that someone was a 'seed' by Ohenwaa that Tash has spared an awful life.

If I played Oz, I would:

Have him get gradually upset that he cant keep up with the WH's and all their special abilities, thus yearning more than ever to get his former powers back

If I played Benji Law I'd:

Start seeing the tattered and pathetic remains of the Black Veins start showing up around him.

If I played Kyle I'd: um...cower and hide. Oh, wait--that's what I'd do if I was Kyle. Yikes. 8O

Kate and Galen

Soulless Zombie's picture

If I played Kate, I would use this rape to deeply alter Kate and Galen's relationship. Although this may sound cliche, it's also very likely: Galen becomes highly possessive. Galen now fears for her safety. He starts smothering his wife, following her around, even hiring people to keep tabs on her. Of course, Kate abhors that he doesn't trust her enough to walk around on her own; Kate is a self-reliant person. Kate simply must put space between herself and the man.

Legal separation?

Perhaps, in Buffy fashion, a plot-based storyline could manifest from Kate and Galen's marital troubles. Maybe there's something magical about their wedding rings, like they were forged by a mage who had also fallen onto hard times with his wife. He created the rings to be worn by the perfect couple, and if ever the couple splits, something. . .bad happens. Whatever that is. Only by getting back together can Galen and Kate dispel that "whatever" plot complication.

Then there's this idea:

Kate has been impregnated by Tony.

The child is born with an intrinsic dislike of Galen--a need to get away from him, which is perhaps what Kate was feeling while Galen made himself into an over-protective husband. The prejudice occurred mystically in the womb.

But Even after Kate and Galen overcome their estrangement, later in the season, the newborn cannot stand "Dad" and shrinks from Galen's touch. Kate would then have to choose between Galen and her child. After the loss of her first baby, this would NOT be an easy choice.

Of course, she'd NEVER permanently leave Galen  , so the solution to this conflict should prove interesting.

Perhaps the child grows up quite rapidly as a result of Buffy-like doubletalk. Impossibly fast growth occurrs because of Kate's magical heritage and the violence of her impregnation. The child might be another "Tabatha" (Bewitched). Kate might try to keep the child away from all magic, fearing her to be too powerful and too inclined to be evil. Too inclined to be like Tony. Kate herself gives up magic for a while. Can't let the child know.

One day, the child might accidentally discover a Resurrection spell while going through Kate's closet. This could be used as a metaphor for a teenager rummaging through Mom's purse looking for money. . .but finding drugs. "Mom takes drugs?" "Mom's a witch?"

Ah, but the spell could be used to raise Tony. . .her real father.

Brr.

In these dark times, Kate and the child would be at odds. Perhaps the child runs to Galen of all people. Galen and the child come to a new understanding, a strange bond, forced by circumstances.

Maybe Galen helps the child resurrect Tony. Because Galen never had the chance to "thank" the sonofabitch for ruining his life. He wants Tony alive so he can kill him! Even a hero like Galen can stoop to dark deeds when the emotions run high. He and "Tabatha" work together, using a wrong to commit another wrong, hoping to feel right about their shattered lives.

Some really great ideas there Siddy! :D I shall have to think about what you wrote...

EDIT: *laughs manically* Thanks for the wicked ideas Sid, they made me reconsider a few thoughts I'd previously discarded and look at them from a different angle. I can feel my inner evil brewing again...

Hats off to ya!
