Whenever I read something I like, I think, I should tell that person. Then I forget, get caught up in other stuff (damn word association). Of course, there's a lot to like. And since I read things out of order, it becomes tougher to remember to give up-to-date praise. Anyway, this is my little spot to give continuing credit where it is due. I don't want this to turn into a negative thing. Whenever you say "good job" to one person, it can make another person feel that he's or she's not being recognized. This isn't meant as a negative post. I just want to say "go you" whenever the thought comes to me.
First: I like the idea that Mantheana has a daughter. It's a simple little thing, but I just plain ol' like it. There. All done. Compliment over.
Thank you for your attention. :)

Sid's Emmy Display Case
And may i compliment you on your compliments page! i can't say i dont envy you (curse my brain and its slow activity for good ideas)!
i've suddenly been overwhealmed by the amout of different places in the forum that have been opened up to me...i don't know where to look, what to answer! Its bigger than i thought! i hope you dont mind me compimenting on YOUR compiments page sid, but wow! impressive :D
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Well, may I compliment you on complimenting me on my compliments page (STOP! Don't reply with a "may I compliment you on complimenting me on complimenting you on complimenting me on com--we're done :) )
Oddly enough, I was coming here to post that I liked your weaknesses. Considering weaknesses for your character can help define him in ways that powers can never pull off. Where would Superman be without Kryptonite? How about Indiana Jones without snakes? How about me without posting messages that don't say much? Your not the only one to talk about weaknesses, but I just happened to notice, so I'm here.
Likes killing vamps, hates slimy things, and adores cute things. I think that perfectly fits the shallow nature of several Buffy characters.
I liked the small touch of dance assisting her fighting abilities. However, "Her left arm has the ability to dislocate at unintended times, although Reah has generally considered this to be more of a burden than a gift," isn't that obviously a burden, not a gift? Still, I would be interested to see it dislocates in the middle of a bitchin' fight; that would even the odds.
DEREK:
The high IQ thing is interesting to me. Not that other characters are dumb, but you've highlighted your character's mental strength. He'll certainly make Sam feel inferior.
Interesting subplot that he's been fired from the LAPD. Is he going to get a new job? Maybe slinging burgers ai Moo Palace (whatever that place is called?) Or is he going P.I.? Lack of a job can in and of itself be a challenge.
Good to have you onboard.
Sid's Emmy Display Case
While this is Sid's Emmy Display Case I just had to put in this scene between Mantheana and Maria - that i just adore for its simple innocence. Well Done to Hannah - this is really good writing!
:D
Sid's Emmy Display Case
I agree. It was that scene that gave me the idea for Sid's Display case.
By the way, I named it badly. This should be a place for anyone to speak. I think I'm just being narcissistic. Instead of an Emmy, you can win a Sid.
Yeah, I hate people who think like me too. But I wasn't breast-fed as a child, so what do you expect?
A Round of Applause
First: Great idea, Sid. I love to have a place to put in my compliments to some of the incredible writing we have going on here.
Second: I also like that scene very much, Hannah. It was simple and yet very poignant.
..
woah!! I didn't notice you posted a thing about me.. Sid..
Thanks for liking my idea and stuff...
btw, I am trying to post more so I can somehow get 100 hahaha
why thank y'all
wow! coolies! i have awards!
*walks down steps, blows kisses to fans, etc.*
Thank you, thank you!
hehe.. i think my head just got so big its gonna explode!
ok... back from the world of insanity temporarily
thankyou, it appears that alot of people like that scene between mantheana and maria... that bit was something i had in my head to write down some where.. so i did.
may i just say how i liked sid's phone call thingy.. it was so clever and funny!
well.. there you go.. i think i'm done..
p.s. yeah... we all love maria.. who doesnt! (hehe) that was also something i really wanted mantheana to have.. plus it was something that hadnt been done before.... so there ya go!
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Although there's so much good to say about everyone's mid-season stories, this line stuck out during my catch-up readings:
"Luc’s engagement ring sat on the dresser next to the scrap of paper that had Galen’s phone number scrawled across it."
I really like how Louisa illustrated Kate's conflict over her two loves by giving us a physical juxtaposition, the ring and the phone number. This line by itself tells us all we need to know.
:D clap clap clap clap clap
Sid's Emmy Display Case
much merry clapping

Kristen, although you're not the only one to use diary entries in LABN, I think Drew's computer logs were a good choice to carry us through the events in Ireland. H.P. Lovecraft used diary entries often in his supernatural horror, so I felt right at home with Drew's. They isolated the audience from Daye's perspective, adding a touch of mystery and threat that kept me reading. They also allowed you to summarize days of story in concise, readable chunks. And best of all, we got to see into Drew's mind.
Ah, how exciting to see fiction writer's making effective choices!
Sid's Emmy Display Case
How exciting, my first Sid!!!
I want to thank all the readers for making this possible. (Blows kisses and weeps.)
Seriously, though, I am glad you liked the journal style. I really was just looking for a way to speed things up as I am rapidly running out of mid-season.
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Uh? Was I supposed to make an acceptance speech? Oh Dear! Guess I'm one of those who grabs the award and legs it before the judges realise they made a mistake and take it back!
Oh I feel so terribly ungracious!
Well I'd like to thank my dog Sparky who taught me everything I know about juxtapostitioning and well... the undercooked fish that gave me inspirational halucinations for days! Thank you all! Mwah Mwah! :D
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Okay, you guys. Now you're just being silly. I didn't expect this to turn into a big comedy routine. :x :P
Just sit down and accept your compliment and shut up. This is not a conversation. When you get a SID, it's more of a pontification. So accept it!
Sid's Emmy Display Case
NAH! I say call the award a SIDDY....! besides accepting an award funnily is the best part. I'm just waiting for some one to trip up on the way to the award stand....
The Award is given....
I set up an Avatar called "The Siddy" for any winner who wants to rub the rest of our noses in it.
Its in the Avatar Gallery under "The Siddy" (duh).
Try not to get too silly (where we all have a SIDDY displayed at the same time).
Congratulations (and a great Idea Sid!)
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Wow. Didn't expect that. Dave, you're awesome. Will you be my dad? I used to want Patrick Stewart for my dad, but he wouldn't return my calls.
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Good grief, April. Like the pic of Reah. I didn't expect it to be computer generated, and I didn't expect it to look so stylin'. Do you have any other examples of your artwork?
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Of course I'll be your Dad, Sid. But You are the one who has to lie about your age. How does 12 sound?
age limits
Uhm, 12 would make him to young for the gameboard. So, we would have to oust him, wouldn't we?
Sid's Emmy Display Case
I see how it is. :?
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Anyway, on another subject:
I am closing Sid's Emmy Display case. On the surface, it was a good idea, but now it's starting to bug me. It's doing the exact opposite of what I'd intended. It's creating more negativity than positivity. Every positive statement made about one player leaves thirteen other players out in the cold. Honestly, it's just easier to think "I like that" than to come here and compliment everyone individually. And I was hoping this would be a forum for everyone, not just my dumb-ass voice. Additionally, this whole thread makes me sound pompous. Pompous is only fun when I'm being so on purpose.
So I'm locking the case. I'll leave the key under the doormat on my way out.
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Aw! too bad sid  !
By the way, I'm amanda! i think jade is april! But I'm glad you liked my pic :D thank you muchly!
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Oops. Sorry for the mistaken identity. I hope I'm forgiven, considering all the alter-egos going on here. 8)
This has to be said while the feeling is fresh.
I feel that I must reopen this case to make a number of awards. As these will not qualify for end of first season, I have to get this out somewhere. First off, let me say, I love Sherlynn's style. Her posts are engaging and fascinating. I just can't wait for Parasol to get to L.A. Congrats on a brilliant writing skill.
Second, I have to give kudos to Lou and Adam for the romance between Kate and Galen. This story is sweet, poignant, and oh so romantic. I am hooked, and am rapidly growing as a Kate/Galen shipper. Way to go you two.
Third, I love the ideas being bandied about for season 2 by Dave and crew. This is going to be loads of fun.
There, now I'm done. A round of applause for you all. :D
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Although I'm not here on any official basis, I can't resist saying this:
I agree wholeheartedly with every word Kristen just wrote. Some of you already know my feelings on this matter, espcially those of you I've talked with.
I do notice how conveniently Kristen left out her own story with Daye and Drew, which I'm reading with the eagerness of a Days of Our Lives viewer. (I'm an ex-Days junkie, by the way, in recovery.) I've been reading her posts with the Enya music in the background.
And while some of us are bleeding our hearts out , Sorrow and Jade are showing that drama and action go hand-in-hand. I'm not even going to get into Tash/Victor souls-in-a-suitcase fun--I'm close to breaking my word by handing out Siddies.
Can I just say one more thing? I want more from Drew, Alice, Hannah, Neil, and yes GREG. I need to feel like I know your characters better before Sam meets them. If you don't post, I'm going to give you an Anti-Siddy.
(I've left out you, Amanda, because I know what Reah's up to. )
a siddy!
hey! i actually got a siddy! :D oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! *beams idiotically* i actually had an acceptance speech all penned out but since sid said:
i won't take up any of ur time. *tears up speech, sits down, shuts up and sulks*
by the way, sid, ur posts have been cracking me up. every one i read gives me something new to giggle about... great writing!
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Thank you for saying so. I hope to be a comical relief....but only contrasted by the upcoming drama in Sam's life.
I haven't brought you and Robin up much. Mostly because I don't know you. I feel less comfortable complimenting virtual strangers; I'm shy. But the compliments are there for the taking.
You two have written exciting stuff lately.
I'm in a chat with you right now, so i hope the feeling changes.
I hope to talk to Logan soon. He scares me.
Sid's Emmy Display Case
I actually didn't think the Daye/Drew/Ryan story was that riveting. Thanks for the compliment, Sid. I really appreciate it. And I must say I am impressed with Robin and April's ability to write action. I myself can't do that too well without the context of a group interaction, where I sort of feel like I'm in an rpg setting.
I also want to second what April said about your posts. They are so funny. I myself don't do funny, so I totally envy you the ability to.
Finally, in case I didn't mention it before here, I love Sherlynn's style. If I'm repeating myself, well, so what, it bears repeating. Your stuff is really cool and different.
action writing...
kris - thanks a bunch... glad u like what we've been doing. i just hope this whole tomb raider thingie ends soon. i'm not sure how much more i can handle! i've got the same problem u have actually... i'm not that good writing action scenes, especially if it involves fighting or killing something. :? this series of posts have been based heavily on stuff robin and i have seen on tv. (god bless indiana jones!)
oh... and sid? after that little insane episode of me clowning around and trying to make adam into a fruit salad, i hope u feel a little less bashful around me... *chuckles*
Sid's Emmy Display Case
I was having a good time with your action scenes. Don't be so hard on yourself.
And after the fruit salad bit, I'm more shy than ever!
more praise
Ok, another round of siddies from your's truly.
First, to April and Robin for the wonderful, poignant montage scene in the hospital. Way to go guys.
Second, to Dave for the great "What if?" with Talhu.
And last, but definitely not least, to Lou and Adam for the much awaited consummation of Kate and Galen's romance. Very romanic and passionate.
*Round of applause for all recipients.*
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Wow,Sid! the dream scene you just did with Sam was wikkid! and so very good at being like a dream. And verr emotional! wow. verr touching! what a great piece!
Sid's Emmy Display Case
Thank you very much, Hannah.
Funny that you should say so. I considered it one of my weaker posts. Isn't that the way it always is, though? What you hate, others like, and what you like, others hate?
Hm.
I thought I'd locked this display case? This time I'm swallowing the key.
*gulp*
Love and bullets,
Sid
