Concerning the Starting Point of Mythic Scrolls

For some reason other people seem a little reluctant to get things started, I don't know, maybe they are just busy with life (Pft!) or working so hard on LABN that they feel they haven't got time for poor Mythic. :(

Anyway, I am obviously NOT one of these people, and having put alot of work into this game already I would like to get the game up and running as soon as possible. But we need more players surely?

Yes we do, but how can we expect outsiders, non-LABNighters I mean, to be interested in this game if we don't have anything to entice them to stay, to have a read through our forums and feel that need to sign up?

So maybe I have been posting like crazy lately - (yes I know, lately is not an exception) I want this game to be as successful as LABN and I think it could, but only with every body working together and contributing to the content of the game. It isn't fair to expect Dave and Kris to do all the leg work (urm, maybe I should add myself to that list too!)

Anyway, this isn't the point of this post - the REAL point is this - WHERE DO WE START THE GAME FROM?

I propose that we start the game parallel to the tv shows of Xena and Hercules and have these characters as a sort of background mythology so that we can sometimes hear of these characters but never actually meet them.

How does this rest with everyone else? Obviously we have to bend the history of Xena and Hercules so that we aren't treading on each other's toes. For Example we can't have Xena killing off Gods left right and centre. So here's what I say we do -

We acknowledge the existance of Xena and Hercules but not their own personal adventures. To us those things never happened, their actions may affect our characters indirectly but never directly.

So we can have things like, characters mentioning this great warrior woman Xena who used to be evil but turned good - but not acknowledge Gabrielle as the Queen of the Amazons (because in our world that never happened)

Tell me what you think...

I happen to agree with this idea, and I have a few more reasons for it too. I think if we refrain as much as possible from actually referring to events from the shows, we leave a lot more room to maneuver in the game itself. For those of us who like this idea but aren't hard core Xenites, this will allow us to function within the game. So, as far as I'm concerned, this is a go.
