I went to see Bulletproof Monk because sometimes you just need to partake in cinematic fluff. We underestimated its fluff-factor however.

This movie is bad.

Not Train Wreck bad where it's awful but you have to see it.

Not Rental bad. Not Pay-per-view bad. Not free Pay-per-view bad. Not It's 3AM, I'm Cramming for Tomorrow's Test, and I Just Need Some Background Noise bad.

How bad? Toward the end of the movie my lower right eyelid itched. While taking care of that problem my finger slipped and I poked myself in the eye.

I didn't mind.

Personally I am facinated. How can a movie starring Chow Yun Fat be bad?

Okay, it's the week after midterms, and I can report that I did damn good on them (Ally will be happy to learn that I received an 85% on my Spanish II mid term :D )

Maybe now I can finally start on posts :?

PS: I moved "Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants" to the Quizzes and Links Forum.

Here are two links that show us that the line between digital and actual are growing very thin.

Beware both of these films are well over 6mb each
http://www.theembassyvfx.com/citroen.html

http://www1.analogik.org/video/tetra_vaal__.mov

when SHORT films can emply this level of detail then when feature films really start to explore the possibilities there will be very little need for location shooting, or huge elaborate sets, or actors really.

Things we feel compelled to share...

Kaarin's picture

Nope, you'll still need at least voice acting to take care of things. And actors and sets for films that don't have the budget to make everything be all CG.

Besides which, call me odd, but I doubt that a computer-generated CG of, say, Macros the Black could actually convince me he was Macros the Black.

That second film scared me if it was saying what I think it was saying. There's an area we don't need a what if for. I mean, HELLO? Robocop? :robot:

Yes...well..about that...um...it disappeared. I don't know when it disappeared, but it is definately gone. Even from the backup (which means it happened more than a week ago). I have no clue where it went.

Is anyone here playing?

Is it Dave's brainchild?

Is it anywhere near what LABN is?

It actually sounds fun.

Why is it that in EVERY movie where there is a pillow fight, even if it's the poorest family you can imagine, they ALWAYS have feather pillows? Crappy feather pillows too considering that as soon as they hit someone the whole thing bursts and sends showers of feathers everywhere?

Either feather pillows in the 'movie world' are really cheap that everyone has them (and not just some nasty synthetic or foam filled ones) or they can't make them properly so that they disintergrate as soon as you pick one up.

I just felt compelled to say this, cos it is something that REALLY bugs the hell out of me. Just how when a couple who hate each other are painting a room or washing a car you know they'll end up having the inevitable paint/water fight that leads to them making out as though it's such a big shock.

Where did the originality go?

I thought it was suspicious, even though the the URL took me to a page that looked EXACTLY like Paypal's (check it out). So I reported the email.

Turns out that it wasn't sent to me by Paypal. It was a scam.

Heads up, people!

My dad recieved the something similar with his Ebay account saying that his details needed to be verified or his account would be deleted. He contacted Ebay and sent them a copy of the email which also turned out to be a scam which they said they'd look into.

Scary stuff, you really can't trust anything. Even if it looks legit.

Speaking of, I read the logbook where I work not that long ago. Our boss had written, "I don't have time to do this, but it seems pretty neat. If any of you have the time, feel free."

The boss's log entry was referring to an enclosed letter. The letter was from the Make A Wish Foundation. It told of 7-year-old Timmy who was suffering from both a brain tumor and lung cancer. His wish was to collect 100,000 business cards, which would put him into the Guiness Book of World Records. Anyone who wished to help could type up the letter and send it out to six other hotels.

While my co-workers were chatting about helping poor Timmy, I was suspicious. Now, you all know me. I'm not the brightest, but still:

1) A 7-year-old with both a brain tumor and lung cancer? Overkill, God. Overkill.

2) When I was 7, I wanted to be Superman. What 7-year-old wants to collect 100,000 business cards?

I checked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Yup, it was a scam.

As a general rule, I find that the best scam/fraud/spam busters in the world are Snopes.com. They have everything including:
The business card child
and a whole passel of Ebay Phishers
and just about anything that you can think of, really

I check the new stuff there very nearly every day.

Yesterday, I went to the city [New York] with the family to see "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway. Last year, I had seen "Phantom of the Opera" with my dad for my brithday, and then at Christmas we saw "Fiddler on the Roof" when Alfred Molina was still Tevye, so this isn't our first one.

Let me start off saying that the play reeked of awesomeness. It was muy colorful, with explosions and effects that give "Phantom" a run for its money. Our favorites of the play were Lumiere, the French candlestick, and Gaston, the extremely (and I emphasize on "extremely") dense suitor of Belle. Lumiere, oh God... he was the most horniest son of a bitch I've ever seen. And Gaston... we were in the nose bleed section, and we saw every one of his teeth. The first thing my father said was "Oh my God, look at those friggin teeth!" Half of the songs in there weren't in the movie, but that's okay.

I'm thinking about seeing it again for my brithday in June, since my dad won't take me to see "Spamalot" since my little brother wants to come and I won't allow him to come. Arg. Ah well.

Just felt like telling everyone :D

Things we feel compelled to share...

MrDave's picture

I SOOOOO want to see Spamalot!

We shall have to go to NYC and meet you there to see it together. That way you don't have to go alone and we can hang and no little brother. Deal?

We (by odd cooincidence) also saw B&tB at a local musical dinner theatre...and I was enchanted by the music and production.

A Much smaller, but no less magical venue I am sure.

Things we feel compelled to share...

What is Spamalot? Sounds cool.

I've seen B&B twice. The first time was at The Alladin (local casino that puts on Broadway shows which are touring). I loved it. It was witty and sweet and brilliant visually. So, when the local performing arts school did a version of the musical last month, I went to see it again. It wasn't as good, obviously, but I loved it as an amateur production as well.

For various reasons, I recently had to begin to look in to what, exactly, is supposed to happen with Papal succession. Found out something really interesting. The confirmation of death.

Now, destroying the fisherman's ring and papal seals isn't surprising. We're talking about personal effects of the Pope. Neither is the College of Cardinals getting 9 days to basically run the Vatican. Then there's the long, very well-defined, very elaborate voting for a new Pontiff. What was surprising was that, before any of this can happen, the Camerlengo - the Pope's personal assistant - has a well-defined procedure to verify the Pope's death.

He has to strike the Supreme Pontiff on the forehead with a silver mallet three times while calling out his Baptismal name.

I was playing the game "Kingdom Hearts" this weekend and as I met the character, Leon (originally from "Final Fantasy"), I thought I recognized the voice. As I continued listening to him talk, I finally figured out who it was: David Boreanez! I was like "Oh shit!" I remembered reading something that said he did a voice for KH, but I didn't expect him to be such an intrical part.

LABN is going to become LateNightGames...one Forum - several games. This was an old game with very few posts (which made it an excellent test subject) based on Xena and Hercules TV shows.

I have ressurrected it to test out how it will look with multiple gameforums on the Board.

Soon I will make it a seperate group and assign a few admins to it (just for a lark) and see how it works then.

As some of you know, I had a premonition around about April 3 - and even made the prediction on another board, regarding the name of the next Pontiff. I predicted either Innocent or Benedict.
