charname: Morachd Magnar
race: Vampire
gender: Male
bdate: 09/23/790 AD in Scotland (Then Called Caledonia)
position: Black Market Trader in Antiquities (particularly occult antiquities)/Midievel Period Weapons and Armor smith
descript: Morachd was nearly a giant for the era of his birth and is still very tall, standing around 6'5. He has longish dark blonde hair and goatee, and grey eyes, and is built muscularly. Both of his upper arms are heavily tattooed, one side with a Celtic hellhound design and the other with a knotwork dragon design. He has many scars on his body, but the most prominent is a long one stretching from just above his right eyebrow to his jaw. He tends to dress somewhat modern, but always with a tinge of the Dark Ages. He has an accent that most people find vaguely familiar and label as some kind of Scottish or German, although he has modified his speech with the times to speek modern King's English. You will hardly ever find him outside his home without at least a chainmail shirt on under his clothes and you will never find him more than two feet away from some manner of weapon. He handles guns only when he feels he must because he has a strange distaste for them and an innate belief in honorable combat that carried over from his human life. He is proficient with most Dark Age and Medieval age weapons and can forge or construct nearly any of them with the tools and time. He now uses this skill to make armor and weapons to sell to collectors. On the darker side, Morachd is slightly mad. He inherited the gift of second sight from his mother, but she died before being able to fully teach him how to control the visions, and so he is almost constantly tormented. He can control them somewhat through meditation and physical exertion, but these times are often offset by maddened wandering and rages that can only usually be satisfied by killing. He tends to keep to himself. He doesnt want friends and he doesnt want followers. The only person who is consistently able to calm him and reason with him is his sister.
history: Morachd Magnar was born in the late 8th century AD on a small manor in what is now called Scotland and what was then called Caledonia. He was the first born son of the Saxon noble William Magnar by a Celtic woman named Arwynn, who was widely regarded in her tribe as a seer and an ovate rivaling the ancient Druids. From birth, Arwynn knew that her son possessed only the most respected of her powers and the difficult of her powers to live with: second sight. He would be able to see events in the past and in the present, and occaisionally in the future. And so she named him Morachd, meaning "priest-king". Morachd grew up much as any boy of the day did. His mother died after giving birth to his sister Aislynn when he was 8, leaving the two children to be raised solely by their father. No sooner was the funeral meat eaten, than his father married another woman who was already pregnant with his child. His half-brother Erik was born later that year. It was at this point that Morachd began to hate his father, but he was an obediant son nontheless. When old enough, he was sent out to aid his father's liege in battle and became very very good at the art of making war. He married the daughter of his father's closest ally when he was 15 and the next year had a daughter, whome he named Arwynn in memory of his mother. Things continued much the same as they always had for 13 years. It was then that he met a new noble in the country, called Halfdane, rumored to be a vicious fighter but of curious habit as the man insisted on meeting in the night. Seeing Morachd's potential, Halfdane requested him come to a private dinner and then sired him as a vampire. Subsequently, Morachd killed his father and half-brother and took over the manor. He in turn sired his wife and his daughter, as well as his sister who had come back to the manor after the death of her husband. The estate of the Magnar's flourished on the constant stream of tribute pouring in from other nobles who had had found their villages ravaged and littered with victims curiously drained of their blood. This could not go on forever and soon Morachd and his family were forced to move on. They traveled, being careful never to stay in one place for too long. They preferred to avoid where other vampires frequented and for two centuries they fed on the already war-torn isles of Britain. The single event upon which the rest of his life turned happened in 1077, the year of Hereward the Wake's revolt. Morachd had gone with his sister to strike a deal on a couple sets of armor he had smithed, leaving Halfdane, his wife, and his daughter back at the old farmstead they were staying at. During his absence, a Slayer who had been tracking them for several years, caught and killed all three. Upon returning home, Morachd went into a grievious bloodrage, vowing to kill the Slayer. His sister returned back to secure the family estate from its new owners, but he stayed behind. In the next three years, he killed every single family member and friend of the Slayer, and eventually the Slayer herself. His bloodrage satisfied, but not his grief, he returned to his sister. He whiled away an unhappy millinium, traveling and occaisionally fighting for hire. At the behest of his sister after WW II, he traveled to the US and began to make his living in the blackmarket acquiring and selling various occult antiquities. He also forges armor and weapons and sells them to collectors who swear that his wares are almost exact reproductions of actual Midieval items. He now lives in an old warehouse in LA, set up Spartanly with an adequate forge to work with.
items: Clothes: Most often seen in a pair of black cargo pants, a black teeshirt covering a chainmail shirt and the pad for it underneath, a long black leather surcoat that usually hides a couple weapons under it, and black, well polished combat boots. He also usually wears a signet ring with the Magnar family crest on his right ring finger.
Weapons: He has a veritable arsenal of weapons in his home. They range from simple dagger to swords to polearms. Most of these he forged himself, along with many different kinds of armor. He refuses to own a gun.
powers: Morachd has no magical powers whatsoever aside from his second sight. The second sight is more of a curse to him than a blessing, although it does benefit him occaisionally. Many times he has been tipped off about a threat on his life by his visions and he sometimes has access to information about people that he shouldnt rightly know. Only very rarely will he recieve a vision of the future.
His other powers are more of the mundane type. He is a master swordsman, having been raised to be since he was a child. As a human, he already had the strength and dexterity of a man born and raised solely to fight, but being a more than 1,000 year old vampire, his strength has only been compounded. He is also a great craftsman of weapons, armor, and occaisionally even more delicate items when called for.
player: I played on Slayer: Twist of Fate, just starting out really when it went down. I'm 20, live in Oregon, I'm an Anthropology and Geology major, with an interest in the occult on the side ;-) I love RPG's especially this kind because I love to write and I love a good story. I do hope you like my character. Many of the things about him can be tweaked if you'd like, I just already had most of this figured out so it wouldnt clash with the history and Buffyverse "reality"
age: over13

Character Proposal: Morachd Magnar (Accepted)
Although I like this idea, I'm gonna have to say wait. Theres too many big ol nasty vampires running around right now with the Brotherhood. I'd actually say wait until season 4 to give us some time to regroup after facing four of the buggers until another 1000year old one turns up.
Character Proposal: Morachd Magnar (Accepted)
Wow, lots of lovely detail and rich background. Such a pity he made Morachd born in the year 790. As our guidelines state:
Now, this vampire is over 1200 years old which is really starting to stretch it a bit, especially given that the Big Bads we've chosen for Season 3 are The Brotherhood. I'm really torn - I know we're full up, and I know the age thing is seriously pushing it, but there's obviously lots of talent behind this character and I'd be loath to turn down such a good writer.
*sigh* I'm also thinking it could also make for interesting times for the Fanged Four if there's a vampire almost as old as they are, but not related to the Master. It would give them something to seriously challenge them. But that only works if we allow him to be 1200. Dammit, I hate the borderline decisions...
I've just zapped over to S:ATOF and yeah, this guy can write. He's got wonderful imagery and I'd definitely be keen to have him on LABN.
*SIGH* I think, in all conscience, I have to vote for him to wait until there's a space. But I'm very much hoping he'll still be interested enough to come on msn and chat to us. We can maybe work something out then. :) The more contact the person has with us, the more likely we are to find a way to squeeze them in. :)
