Yes I know it should be in the character proposal's section but that's a moderator only forum and since Heather and Dave are busy moving house...
Any way below you'll find my application for a new character. To be honest I'm not sure if he'll be anything but a peripheral character but suffice to say enough people have asked me 'When are you coming back to LABN?" or something similar that my ego made me write something.
Be Kind ;)
(On a related topic I don't have an actor for Marcus so suggestions are welcomed.)

Marcus Dalton [accepted]
BAH! never in my life have i SEEN such a load of elephant tripe!
...
but of course, i'm just saying that cos it's fun
me likey the necro! can never have enough of them in the neighbourhood. and though the player seems a little on the dogdy side, i'm sure we could give him a go (yes i know this is your thread that you started taht i'm replying to, robin. but it's more fun to address this like it IS in the other forum, so :P ner)
but yes, seriously, i do like him. we don't have any necromancers as yet either - and i think we're running pretty low ON different things you can be - so that earns some brownie point as far as i'm concerned :D plus: it's robin! after hounding him for sooooo long to write up another character, it would just be plain meeeaan to reject Marcus... *whistles nonchalantly*
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
A really good character and since I´m a fan of necros in general ,I votes yes.
I just hopes that Marcus and Hunter never meets as enemies though, since that would be really unpleasant. 8O
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
i like him apart from a few things vampires are undead but he would not have any controll over them at all being that there is a demon posseing them or kill a vampire at will except a a melinea old vampires ? or undead in genral everything is fine apart from the controll over other demons
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
i don't think he has control over other demons, just anything dead! and considering that vampires ARE demons occupying and preserving a dead human corpse (ultimately) he doesn't ahve control over the demon, per-sey, just their cosy little home! and when you take away their cosy little home (which he can cause he DOES have power over that) the demon kind of has no choice, and goes... 'aw fuck'
at least, that's just how i see it :D that's why you get that whole conflict thing between vampires and necros, well... at least for the vampires, cos unlike the DEAD dead, they're conscious while the necro does his thing, and they can't do shit about it!
in conclusion: he's not controlling demons - just dead things
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
yea but the demons have been occupying there hoem for quite some time and they wont be easy to kill this woudl go for any vamp tahts 50+ butstill destorying undead at will is a bit much

All in all, I like the idea of having a necromancer in the game. Of course, I'm biased, seeing that having Robin back on LABN will be another reason for me to start writing more frequently... Especially with Marcus having a Hong Kong connection... It'll be a nice tie-in with Jade.
Just one little comment... I'm not sure if it's just me but I somehow got the impression from the writeup that Marcus would be a lot older than 24... More a man in his early 30s (at least!). I think it's these couple of paras...
Correct me if I'm wrong but even for one who is naturally gifted, a truely capable necromancer would require more than 3 or 4 years of instruction / education to reach a reasonable level of power, wouldn't he? So unless Marcus started his 'training' at the age of 10 or 12, how powerful could he be at 24?
Then again, that's just be my opinion and my knowledge on necromancy is minimal. (I only remember bits and pieces from reading Anita Blake... Heh heh!) Anyone wanna set me straight? :)
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
I see Marcus being a ‘capable’ necromancer despite his youth for the following reasons.
1) Necromancy is the family legacy. Every male Dalton for the last 500 years has been a necromancer. Even if only a third ever seriously developed their skills Marcus can probably draw on a family archive that is unequalled on this particular topic. He has access to knowledge and techniques developed by his ancestors that have never been released to the rest of the world.
2) Onyx has been with the family for essentially the same period. It is a very knowledgeable instructor even if it can’t actually use the knowledge it’s probably forgotten more about necromancy than most necromancers (including Marcus) will ever know.
3) Garland. Onyx has never shielded Marcus from his father’s dissolute ways though it has carefully cultivated his distaste for them. As such Marcus has been a conscientious student, ready to learn everything Onyx has been willing to teach in an effort to distance himself from his father.
For all of the above reasons Marcus is by most standards a ‘capable’ necromancer though by the standards of the family he is more a journeyman than a master but that will come with time assuming he continues to apply himself.
Actually a little more detail on his education is probably necessary. Marcus is fluent in multiple languages more as a result of being continually exposed to them from an early age rather than actual study. He is fluent in english, mandarin and cantonese as well as a couple of demon tongues.
For the rest the etiquette is the sort of thing any well bred person picks up almost by osmosis and his understanding of the physical sciences, ritual magic and the like are the sort of thing Onyx feels any well educated person should know.
For James’ concerns I’m not sure what to say a necromancer by definition has power over the dead and despite being animated by a demon a vampire is dead. However a little clarification of the interaction of Marcus’ necromancy and a vampire might help a little
1 Marcus cannot compel the obedience of a vampires mind. It’s a demon and as such isn’t subject to his power. He can’t force it to tell him anything or coerce it in any way other than the usual means anyone who has power can.
2 He can however attempt to directly control the vampires body. The demon can fight this control and depending on the strength of the demon the outcome maybe Marcus puppeting the body with some resistance. The body essentially being locked with neither Marcus or the vampire in control, or the vampire being able to move with some resistance.
3 The ability to dust a vampire at will really comes from Angel. In early season 5 Angel runs into a necromancer and is virtually powerless against him. Indeed the necromancer says “I could dust you right now, boy” to Angel. It’s only through the intervention of ghost Spike and numerous double and triple crosses that Angel survives. This highlights a weakness – dealing with multiple targets is potentially tricky though in that particular case the necromancer wanted something from Angel. If all Marcus is trying to do is kill vampires then personally I think they’re going to go poof!
All in all I feel a vampire should lose a direct confrontation with necromancer unless the vampire is very strong (500+ years old) or the necromancer very weak. I understand this is an unusual position for most vampires to be in but then necromancers are a rarity.
This doesn’t mean that a vampire is powerless against a necromancer just that they have to take an oblique approach and fight intelligently after all despite their undeniable power necromancers are still human. A few bullets will kill one just as easily as any other human.
One final note is simply that Marcus is not a white hat. He’s essentially amoral with a look after number one attitude. He’s not going to be wandering the streets looking for vampires to dust except of course if some one his 'paying' him.

The Necromancer idea is good and different. I have to admit that I didn’t know what exactly a necromancer was till I read this Robin , so this has been informative too. Although all that “necro” should have been enlightening in itself. :D
I like Marcus, he's as ambiguous as his powers (raise the dead, yuuukkkk :? ) I love the Hong Kong background and Onyx too (Liv Tyler is great and I’m seriously thinking of a good actor I can recommend you. Black hair, blue eyes... mmmm any other requirements?)
And as I was telling Meghan last night we are running low on male players, since you killed Sorrow and Matt decided to make Chance disappear (I need a hanky, again    ). So it was time some amendants were done.
And all the vampire talking… well, James is an old vampire, and has been powered up by the Slayer’s ritual. I think it would be interesting to see them facing each other; now that Chance isn’t around we need somebody who can kick James ass anyway, sorry Jamie .
So, thumbs up!!! :D :D

I was with Ally, on the whole "not knowing what a necro is" thing, that was, until I read Robin's description. It's a really cool idea, especially since I've never heard of it until now. And we defiantly need more guys.
BTW, get Marcus to kick some sense into James' (Jamie's) ass. He still need to finish our collab and he seeems to be avoiding it
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
Awwww, *points at Ally and Meghan* way to spot who never read Midseason One... :P (specifically Tash's battle against the necromancer Oweenhananwaaa - lol
I'm all for this anyway, it's Robin for goddsake, and so long as he pics a hot blokey for all us laydeez to drool over... (hmm is it possible to have Hugh Jackman again? :D) Yeah, like I said, put another mark in the YES box.
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
Cool beans! Sounds good.
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
So you don't pay the Necromancer Union dues? Or perhaps you have a really good agent... ;)
Looks good. I can see him being an interesting character to have around in Season four.
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
Actually, when Robin and I spoke about his ideas for this character a few months back, I gave him a couple of suggestions as to who could look suitably villianous without being overwhelmingly sleazy or evil. (Of course, they're suitably hunky too... Heh heh...)
The first was Rupert Everett. You might remember him from "My Best Friend's Wedding"... As Julia Robert's stylish, but oh-so-sadly-gay friend. :)
Rupert Everett 1 | Rupert Everett 2
The second was Julian McMahon.... More commonly known as the demon, Cole, from "Charmed". Maaaaan... Is this man hot or what!
Julian McMahon 2 | Julian McMahon 1
Although Robin was ok with my proposals at the time, neither actor suit the description he's given to Marcus... The main thing being that both Everett and McMahon look way too mature to be a man of 24. Sigh... Back to the drawing board I guess...
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
Ok, time to chime in on something. Namely this: with this kind of character, I might expect him to look more mature than his age. Hell, I'm 21 (22 in Aug) and most people usually think I'm 25-26.
What's the point of this? It's not merely how young you look. It's also the kind of personality you have. So if they would have the personality that fits Marcus, unless you're using, say, Christopher Plummer at his current age that shouldn't be a problem.
And I still think that Julian Sands would be an excellent choice, though the problem with him is that he might be a bit too evil, or even Jason Connery - though Robin can't get around the green tights for the latter.
Of course, there's also the radical position of simply saying "to hell with an actor." :)
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
oooh, Julian McMahon. I think robin should choose him. plus there's nothign a little photoshop work couldn't fix - such as the whole eye colour issue.
also! also -
Hugh Jackman: Australian
Julian McMahon: Australian
eh? eh! i'd say that's a sign
hehe

A fellow Julian McMahon fan! Amanda, you're a woman after my own heart... *grins*

BRANDON LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
Heh... Darn... Amanda beat me to it. Anyway, here're why I thought Brandon Lee would work. He looks like a guy in his 20s... The hair colour matches, even if the eye colour doesn't... And, like Adam said, it's oddly appropriate to have a dead man play a necromancer. Heh heh...
Brandon Lee 1 | Brandon Lee 2 | Brandon Lee 3 | Brandon Lee 4

Ooooh so many gorgeous men, i must be in heaven ;) Well this was my choice for Marcus, the divine Mr Joseph Fiennes.. *sigh*
This burning hunkaman could suck my life force anytime ;)
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
Ok stop the beauty parade. I think that right now Joseph will be cast in the part of Marcus. Yes I know this requires a little adjustment in the description but such things are pretty fluid for me.
I will say that Mr Fiennes will have to clean up a little before playing Marcus... but then Actors have to make sacrifices for the truly great parts and who'd pass up a chance to be drooled over by Lou... ;)
Since no one else has raised any serious objections I'll start writing for Marcus and as soon as I can get the recalcitrant profile thingie to work I'll change my character name.
Thanks Guys :D
Marcus Dalton [accepted]
Aww... Julian McMahon would have been a great character, especially since I saw this hot French Canadian who was working the tram cars last summer in Wildwood that looked like him...
