"Comic Book Villains" is a funny film in the tradition of "Clerks" and "Free Enterprise" about what happens when fanboys get a taste of the big-time.
The premise starts with two rival comic-book store owners who get wind of the death of a collector. A man who had collected comics for nearly 50 years. You can imagine how it goes from there.
Quite good. Quite Dark. Very illustrative of the kinds of people who read, sell, and collect comics.
Look for an appearance by Cary Elwes.

Very nice. I will definitely check that out. I adore "Free Enterprise." Thanks.
Unbreakable
I recently saw "Unbreakable" by M Night Shyamalan, the writer/director of "The Sixth Sense". Okay, so, personally I thought Shymalan's first film was much better in terms of pace and suspence. There were times in Unbreakable where it seemed to get a little slow, this is also a film where you need to watch everything closely, so no nipping off to make a cup of tea!
What I did love about the film, was the way it explored the nature of superheroes and their existance as a historic presence. It also looked at the symbiotic relationship between villan and hero which I found increadibly interesting, (plus pretty relevant for THIS game hehehe).

I'm with you on the interestng but not as good as "Sixth Sense"
What struck me was the absolute conviction by the "supervillain" that it had to be "just so". There was absolutely no doubt in his mind why things were the way they were.
It was an interesting film though despite being a little offbeat.

I finally managed to go and see Matrix: Reloaded last night. What did other people think of this film? Personally I thought it paled in comparison to the first film though I'd like to reserve complete judgement until the final installment.
My main annoyance was that it didn't really go anywhere, it was sort of one random event after another. Plus, nothing really happened, sure there were lots of events (and some heavy discussion of causality - but a girl can only take so much convoluted philosophy before she starts hoping another fight scene will erupt just to shut them the hell up!) Also, nothing really reached any kind of conclusion. That might not be so surprising seeing as the film ends with the line 'to be continued' but when you concider the fact that the first film was a story in it's own entirity and that other sequels such as 'The Empire Strikes Back' and 'X2' manage to encompass an interesting plot even though they leave certain elements open to be concluded in the finale.
So, anyway, that's my rant over - well until Revelations hits the screen in six months time :D
Movies
i thought it was okay...nothing spectacular...i still wasnt over the high of X2 and the teasing of the phoenix...
the thing that bugged me was that the slowmo was overdone...almost every scene had a slowmo sequence in it...other than that, the fights were sick and the story intriguing enough...then again, this is like the middle chapter of a larger story, so i cant really judge it like that...some people i know criticized the two towers in the same way, but really, its simply the middle chapter of a larger story
hehe...yeah, the philosophy part was too much for me too...i wonder as to who the mother of the matrix is????? im saying it now...i betcha its persephone ie monica bellucci :P
btw...did the non-french people find any of the frenchman's scene???
Movies
i had the same feelings, but i decided that the matrix is usually confusion and needs more than one viewing before you understand it...better. so i saw it a second time and did enjoy it alot more with a better understanding.... but i still don't see the point in that chick pashing neo... it's just really... thrown in... it just seems so out of place to the rest of the film (although i guess it could fit with that whole bloody cave scene that just dragged on and on. ITS A MOVIE! NOT A FRICKEN FILM CLIP!... but i'm not saying that the music wasn't funky...it just dragged on too much)
ps. they did mention who the mother of the matrix was.
[edit] can't believe i spelt my bloody name wrong [/editEnd]

I just found this cool site that rips the piss out of all those films that try so hard to be 'cool' and end up falling over themselves in the effort. It's called The Editing Room and has parody's of films like Daredevil, 8 Mile, Die Another Day, and of course The Matrix: Reloaded
Just to show you how funny some of these are, here are a few highlights from The Matrix Reloaded -
Movies
Hehe very funny :D never laughed so hard...
ok, well i thought the movie was ok. I mean ok, so they did overdo the slow mo scenes and i barely understood much of the stuff that happened outside the fightscene but i still thought it was interesting enough.
The fight scenes this time were somewhat better done then the first one and they seemed to be much more extensive...like the car chase and the short burst of githing that ensues in them, i loved those.
I still haven't seen X2 (can u believe they took it off the ciniemas right after me exams finished :( ). BTW has anyone watched Daredevil? Wat did ya guys think of it? i may go and watch it.....
Movies
i personally didnt hate daredevil like so many people do (hehe, the fact he's one of my fave heroes has nothing to do with it :P )...but it couldve been a half-hour longer and used a better editing job...but Ben Affleck played Matt Murdock/Daredevil to a T, and Colin Farrell and Jennifer Garner were awesome as well...knowing me, i will buy the DVD

The best review of Daredevil I've heard was that it's the best Bat-Man movie yet.
:)
It was good...not Spider-Man good, but decent enough to pay to see in a theater.
Personally, I didn't care for Matrix2 either...it just kind of ambled along without seeming to go anywhere...or even care that it was lost. The visuals were well done, but nowhere near as ground-breaking as the PR people would have you believe.
X2 was the far superior movie in just about all respects. It definitely has the most Heart of all of them, and it actually gives you the feeling of caring about these characters.
Just my Humble opinon...
Movies
I agree that X-2 was the best. It had good plot, acting, special affects and left some things open for the sequal but didn't leave to many things open (a la Matrix).
I didn't like the Daredevil movie, but then again I never really liked Daredevil so I might be biased.

Hehehe, this is someones review of Matrix Reloaded in Live Journal. I found it rather amusing
***
My review of Matrix: Reloaded:
Having defeated Darth Vader at the end of the previous movie, young Skywalker is left trying to understand his new life as a jedi. Lando is introduced as a new "Good Guy" and we get some of Han Solo's back story. Darth Vader reveals the connection between him and Luke, who seeks out guidance from an ancient wise one. Luke learns about the nature of The Force and hones his abilities. A showdown with The Emperor hints at the battle yet to come and one of our heros is left temporarily immobilised until the next installment.
Or maybe I'm just being harsh. It was awfully pretty to watch but it had a bit of that "second movie in a trilogy"ness in that much of the plot is left unresolved cos its all foreshadowing for the next movie. The effects were spectacular to watch, the fight sequences held my interest, the costumes were stylish and I WANT one of those gorgeous coats. The lovey dovey bits seemed out of place - neither Kerrie Anne nor Keanu convinced me they actually had any real passion for each other so it all just fell kinda flat on me. I wonder if the sex scene was only added so they could use the shot of the plugs all down Neo's back.
Oh, can someone explain this logic?
"Oh my God! They are coming to wipe us all out! What do we do?"
"Let's have a Rave."
"Good idea!"
And if Neo is The One then you think someone would at least wash the collar of his jumper if not give him a new one.
All in all, nice to look at, a bit of mysticism for the philosophical, lots of action and romance to keep both the guys and the girls happy, a brief nod to programmers who recognise the hacking software, nifty bad guys, heroic good guys, explosions and nudity. I give it a thumbs up!

Here is a list of films I DESPERATELY want to see -
Charlie's Angels; Full Throttle
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (how cool is this, superheroes in the 19th century hehe)
Underworld
Also, does anyone know how I can possibly see Disney's Sinbad without taking some random kid with me so I don't look like a total looser?! LOL
Movies
yes, anyone who knows where you can hire kids for a day would be ver' helpful.
Movies
i could send myself in a little box via air mail...i dont charge much...AND i say "Woooooooowww" and "cool" alot :P
Movies
It's Dreamworks "Sinbad" by the way, and I saw this one in a sneak preview too. I don't care what the moronic, bitter critics say, I loved it. Jeannie Beannie saw it with the kids and I and she normally hates animated films, but she liked it too. Anyway, you all can rent my kids if you'd like. They're real cute, but sort of obnoxious.
Movies
I went to see Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle last week and I thought it was a real blast. It was so cool to watch a film that was just about sitting back with a bucket of popcorn and having a laugh instead of being weighed down with loads of heavy subtext. It was of course, totally ridiculous, especially the martial arts scenes but that was half the fun since it WAS so silly, so.... Xena Warrior Princess. (Yay! we need more Xena films!) :D
Movies
I finally went to see Pirates of the Carribean last week (can anyone believe it took me so long? Oh well) I totally loved it, especially Johnny Depp's role of Jack Sparrow - sorry, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow hehehe, so funny, I loved the way he minced his way through every scene.
It was also great to see some genuine British talent thrown in there, such as the way-too-pretty-for-her-own-good Keira Knightly, Jonathan Pryce (Tomorrow Never Dies), Jack Davernport (from BBC2's Coupling) and Mackenzie Crook (BBC2's The Office). I enjoyed this sea-faring rollock emmensly and would love to see a sequel appear (come on, we all know it's going to happen).
Movies
You know, I still haven't seen that. My brother saw it and said it was good but I haven't gone out to see it yet. And I still haven't seen Finding Nemo which I really wanted to see
I guess I'll wait untill their both on DVD.
