Ok... Right now, it's 12:57AM here, and I believe in the east it's like.. almost 4 AM.. and in Australia, it's.... almost 6PM?? I am not really sure.. forgot what time it is over there :P

Anyways, when I am on at 10PM, my time. I guess no one's on... Does anyone come on MSN at that time?? Just wondering...

BTW, I tried to figure out the timezone in the profile section (for the updating things) and I couldn't figure out which timezone California is.... someone tell me?

To administers.. if you think this topic is.... useless, then you can delete it... :?

Time difference.........(??)

Yep, timezones are nasty complicated things. I developed a spreadsheet when I first started LABN just to keep track of them. I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or a bad thing that I now pretty much know them all by heart... :roll:

The timezone for California is GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) minus 7 hours currently. Right now, California is using Daylight Saving Time. In winter, California is GMT minus 8.

For example, at this time of year when GMT is at noon on Monday, the time in California is 5am Monday.

At this time of year (summer in the northern hemisphere, winter in the south), the timezones relating to various players are:

Melbourne, Australia = GMT + 10
Western Australia = GMT + 8
Singapore = GMT + 8
England = GMT + 1 (DST on)
Maryland (East US) = GMT - 4 (DST on)
Nevada = GMT - 7 (DST on)
California = GMT - 7 (DST on)

From this, you should be able to work out the relative times for each region.

For example, when it's 10pm for you in California, Andrew, the time in Melbourne (for me) is 17 hours ahead (add 7 to get you back to GMT and add another 10 to get to Melb. time). Therefore 10pm Thursday night is my 3pm Friday afternoon. Simply add 17 hours to whatever time you've got.

Likewise, you need to add 8 hours to find out what time it is for the English players (Robin, Louisa, Alice, Hannah, and Neil). Therefore, 10pm Thursday in California is 6am Friday for them.

Clear as mud? Don't worry - I did a lot of counting on my fingers at first, until I made my spreadsheet. But it is all just arithmetic. If in doubt, ask someone for a time check. :)

Hope this has helped a little.

Uhm, just a thought, but in my date/time window on my computer, there is an option for switching time zones. So, if I want to know what time it is somewhere, I can just check. I just found this out the other day. Maybe it will be helpful to someone else.
